We are now looking for a PhD student in medical science with a focus on physiotherapy.
Your responsibilities
As a PhD student, you will work within a research project focusing on recovery and rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. The project comprises two major studies; one is an intervention study aimed at improving conditions for recovery and knee function after injury, while the other examines long-term outcomes up to ten years after ACL injury. The studies adopt a transdisciplinary approach where biological, physical, psychological, and social factors are studied using several data collection methods, such as medical imaging techniques (CT, MRI, and X-ray), muscle function and physical capacity tests, patient-reported questionnaires, and qualitative interviews. In your role as a PhD student, you will work with and analyze existing data, as well as plan and conduct new data collection and analysis within the project, thereby contributing to knowledge development in the field. As a PhD student, you will devote yourself to your doctoral education and the research project you are part of. Your work may also include teaching, administration, or participation in other departmental duties, up to 20% of full-time equivalent.
Your qualifications
You have completed an advanced level degree in Physiotherapy or Biomedicine, or completed courses totaling at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits are at an advanced level with a focus on Sports Medicine, or have otherwise acquired substantially equivalent knowledge.
Good knowledge of both English and Swedish is required.
You have relevant background knowledge and understanding of the effects of injury and immobilization, as well as documented experience in testing function after injury. Experience in handling and analyzing experimental data using relevant software is an advantage. The research involves contact with patients, healthcare providers, and researchers both nationally and internationally, which requires that you have good ability to communicate in both Swedish and English, orally and in writing. You work in a structured manner, are analytical, and have a strong drive to develop through research. The ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with others is central, and you are expected to contribute actively to an established research group and an active PhD student environment. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
We welcome you to attach a statement of intent where you describe how you envision the work as a PhD student, why you are interested in research in general, why you want to become a PhD student, and your interest in this specific PhD project.
Your workplace
