Jobbtorg Stockholm is a department within the Labor Market Administration of Stockholm City that works with labor market initiatives. We provide support to young and adults who are outside the labor market – through conversations, coaching, collaboration, and educational pathways. Around 500 employees work for us across 24 units throughout the city.

Your Role as a Teacher in Study Step 1 (Studiesteg 1)

Here, you will have the opportunity to be part of the Labor Market Administration's mission, which has a variety of initiatives for our young people. Within our multi-competent unit, there are several different initiatives that you will collaborate with. The young people who come to Study Step 1 come on a voluntary basis but need support and motivational work. You will meet young people one-on-one or in small groups with the goal that they will start sustainable studies. Our target group is young people under 20 years old, who are covered by the municipal activity responsibility.

As a teacher in Study Step 1, you will work with helping young people develop their motivation, try out studies in various forms, and find their learning style. You will participate in developing individual plans for the young person's path back to studies, and if necessary, act as a support for the young people before and during the initial period of regular education. You will conduct pedagogical assessments and work on young people's study skills. Teaching will take place individually and in small groups. Grading or assessment is not part of the assignment.

Responsibilities

The work includes standard teacher duties such as:

• Plan, implement, and evaluate teaching
• Adapt teaching to students' needs
• Participate in the unit's development work
• Collaborate with colleagues and other professions
• Use digital tools in teaching
• Conduct student-centered teaching
• Document and follow up on students' progress

Your Competence and Experience

• Teacher's degree with eligibility for upper secondary school in e.g.:
  • Mathematics
  • Swedish
  • SFI (Swedish for Immigrants) and Swedish as a Second Language
  • English

Meritorious:

• Experience working with young people with neuropsychiatric disabilities and mental health issues.
• Good knowledge of pedagogical methods and approaches.
• Experience working in multicultural and multilingual environments.
• Experience of collaboration, such as cooperation in multi-competent teams, contact with young people and their relatives, and various societal agencies such as habilitation, child and adolescent psychiatry (BUP), and social services.
• Good IT skills (to handle business systems, office packages, digital meeting tools, etc.).

Location

Your position is based in our beautiful premises in Alviks Strand, but you will flexibly meet young people throughout the city. The unit's joint meetings take place in our beautiful premises in Alviks Strand. You work together with colleagues and in collaboration with actors across the city. You meet young people and offer group lessons as well as individual pedagogical support, primarily in our premises in Johanneshov or Skärholmen.
