Mariaskolan is one of Sweden's oldest independent schools with a Christian profile, having been located in Malmö for 40 years. Today, we have approximately 250 students in our primary and lower secondary school (grades F-9) and about 100 children in our preschool. The school's owner, the Christian School Association in Malmö, is a non-profit organization, and the school is situated in the Stadion area.
Mariaskolan reflects the diversity of children and students in Malmö. Our goal is to shape secure and curious students who achieve excellent academic results.
The Christian values of Mariaskolan permeate the operations of the primary school, the after-school center, and the preschool.
We strive to create a good working environment for both students and staff, while maintaining a high pedagogical standard.
Today, approximately 70 dedicated employees work at Mariaskolan's primary school, after-school center, and preschool, and we look forward to meeting you!
We are looking for a special needs teacher who, like us, is passionate about creating a good learning environment where students feel joy, security, and inclusion. Since all students have different needs, prerequisites, and ways of learning, we offer various learning environments.
As a special needs teacher, you will collaborate closely with the school's other special needs teachers and special educators, as well as be part of the student health team. The role includes special education in special teaching groups in middle and upper secondary school, partly one-to-one teaching, and special pedagogical support integrated into regular teaching. In your role, you are expected to collaborate with teachers regarding special pedagogy in the classroom, conduct pedagogical assessments and investigations, and mentor teachers. You are a qualified special needs teacher or teacher, preferably with a focus on Swedish/Swedish as a Second Language and special pedagogical competence, preferably with a focus on middle and upper secondary school. Previous experience working with children in need of special support is desirable.
We assume that you are a licensed special needs teacher with the necessary qualifications. Experience as a teacher and working with children with special needs is desirable.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a positive and inclusive view of all students' ability to succeed.
- Is highly engaged, proactive, and initiative-taking.
- Has strong didactic and pedagogical skills and an interest in language acquisition.
- Communicates clearly and solution-focused with students, colleagues, and guardians.
- Has good IT skills and experience with relevant digital tools.
As a person, you are flexible, clear, and structured, with good ability to plan and execute activities and achieve results.
We are a small school that values good cooperation, which is why it is important that you can build good relationships. We place great emphasis on personal qualities and wish for all staff to contribute to a good working environment for both large and small.
Mariaskolan has a special focus on accessible learning environments, language-oriented teaching, and cooperative learning in the classroom. We are keen on constantly developing our operations based on the school's governing documents, evidence-based research, and proven experience.
