We work hard for the green transition, but despite this, we must dedicate time and effort to adapting society to a changing climate, and we must also ensure that we do not impact our living environment more than necessary. By a climate adaptation measure, we mean an action that leads to a lasting physical change.

The Department of Community Development and Sustainability consists of approximately 15 employees with various strategic areas of responsibility. This includes responsibility for infrastructure, climate issues, social and ecological sustainability, comprehensive planning, and rural issues. With the goals of creating 5,000 new jobs by 2030, becoming climate neutral, and reducing social disparities, we work hard to stay at the forefront. We strive to find synergies between growth goals, environmental goals, and social objectives. To succeed in this, we are active in collaboration and communication with authorities, businesses, civil society, and citizens.

How you contribute as Process Leader Climate and Environment

The role of Process Leader primarily involves working to ensure that Sundsvall Municipality can provide municipal services in a changing climate and contribute to a robust society. You investigate, propose, and drive measures within the framework of the municipality's climate adaptation budget. The mandate stems from political decisions but is based on the needs across the entire municipality and is carried out in dialogue with various parts of the municipal group, other authorities, private individuals, and the business community. Leading smaller projects may also become part of the role. You also lead the Municipal Executive Board's work within the waste management area.

Your tasks also include, among other things:

• working closely with the municipal leadership by keeping them updated on climate adaptation issues
• preparing materials for investigations, drafting remiss responses, and processing other matters for political decisions and internal municipal handling
• building networks and working for change both within and outside the municipal group
• processing issues within the waste management area, such as regulations and fees
• additional tasks within the area may occur

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for you who have an academic education in a field that the employer considers relevant for the assignment, for example, within the environmental or climate field.

You have a few years of current professional experience within the environmental or climate field that the employer considers relevant for the position. It is important that you are IT-literate and proficient in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

We consider the following knowledge and experiences to be meritorious:

• Experience working in a politically governed or larger organization.
• Experience coordinating and leading projects.
• Experience coordinating and developing working methods, as well as leading change or behavioral change work.
• Experience in giving presentations, writing reports, and preparing materials.

To succeed in this assignment, your personal qualities are very important, and we will place great emphasis on them in this recruitment. We expect you to have a holistic view and to consider the best interests of the entire operation in your actions and decisions. You plan, organize, and prioritize work efficiently. You should be independent to be able to process lead/coordinate certain tasks and have good collaboration skills both internally and externally. You communicate clearly and ensure that messages get through.
