About the roleUnit Manager for Bergslena Upper Secondary School - We lay the foundation for lifelong learning.
We are looking for a leader who thrives at the interface between operational daily life and strategic development.
Bergslena Upper Secondary School is an adapted school offering four-year programs for students with intellectual disabilities. We offer six national vocational programs and the individual program, where students study six subject areas. The goal is for students to become employable in their chosen vocational direction or to reach their maximum potential in knowledge development. The operations are characterized by a secure learning environment and a professional approach to the target group. Before and after school hours, short-term supervision is also offered for students at Bergslena Upper Secondary School's units. As an employee, you will become part of a dedicated team where we together create meaningful teaching and lay the foundation for lifelong learning. Bergslena Upper Secondary School is located at Bergslenagatan, Viared, and Sörmarksgatan.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Unit Manager with us, you will have a key role in the school's leadership group. Your focus will be on creating the best conditions for the pedagogical vision to become reality by leading the support functions. Since this position is new to us, you have the opportunity to shape the role and develop our support functions from the ground up.
Your areas of responsibility:
- Personnel Responsibility: You supervise student assistants at two of our units, as well as staff in cleaning and catering at one of the units.
- Work Environment & Involvement: You are responsible for ensuring your employees have a secure and stimulating work environment where everyone feels involved. You ensure your employees have the right tools to succeed in their assignments.
- Operational & Administrative: Your daily routine is a mix of daily leadership and administrative tasks. You ensure logistics function smoothly so that learning can remain at the center.
- Strategic Development: You actively contribute to the school's systematic quality work and ensure we continuously develop for the benefit of the students.
- Competence Development: You plan for competence-enhancing measures for student assistants, including digital competence.
We are looking for you who are a secure and clear leader, but who also possesses the empathy required to lead staff in an operation that demands a delicate touch. You have the ability to see the big picture while thinking proactively in several steps to solve everyday challenges. We offer meaningful work where your leadership directly impacts the future of young people.
Your qualifications:
- A pedagogical degree is a requirement, which is crucial for you to plan and evaluate students' support needs in close dialogue with the principal.
- Experience in leadership and you are accustomed to motivating staff groups and driving change processes.
- Good digital competence - you see technology as an enabler for efficiency and can guide others in digital tools.
- Experience with our target group - you have good knowledge of the challenges and opportunities within adapted schools and ID (Intellectual Disability).
- Collaboration skills - you work closely with the principal and other leadership to drive the school forward.
Meritorious: We consider it a significant plus if you have a special education degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities.
