What will you work with?
You will work as an investigator at the Vaccination Unit (VA), within the Division for Infectious Disease Control and Preparedness (SB). As an investigator, you will work in accordance with the agency's overarching goals and mission.
Most investigators divide their working time between surveillance and follow-up, investigations, remiss responses, and other projects, where the distribution may vary.
Tasks include:
- Surveillance of infectious diseases (Sminet).
- Contributing to the systematic support, follow-up, and evaluation of various aspects of the vaccination program, with a focus on benefit for the agency's target groups within healthcare and the general public.
- Developing and communicating scientific knowledge bases and methodological support that facilitate implementation within the vaccination area.
- Participating in or leading investigations and analyses prior to changes in vaccination programs.
- Organizing activities and seminars for knowledge development together with colleagues, targeting our collaboration partners and target groups within healthcare.
- Collaborating with other agencies on vaccination-related issues.
Other tasks may become relevant as the unit's work develops. Additionally, it includes performing routine tasks for investigators at the agency, such as preparing decision support documents, writing remiss responses, and participating in internal tasks.
Who are we looking for?
Requirements for the position:
- A university degree in natural sciences, medicine, epidemiology, statistics, public health, pharmacology, nursing, behavioral science, or another adjacent area that the agency deems relevant for the assignment.
- Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Significant emphasis is placed on:
- Experience in joint processing of registers.
- Experience in developing knowledge bases, guidelines, or recommendations within healthcare.
- Experience in collaboration in expert groups or research projects.
- Experience in investigative work within knowledge-based organizations, such as agencies, regions, or civil society organizations.
Emphasis is placed on:
- Experience from work or research regarding vaccination programs, vaccination follow-up, vaccination recommendations, public health, infectious diseases, epidemiology, or similar.
What does the unit do?
The Vaccination Unit is responsible for coordinating national vaccination programs at the national level. The mandate includes monitoring infectious diseases and vaccination coverage, as well as providing background material and recommendations to the government on whether new vaccinations should be included in national vaccination programs. The unit is responsible for national support and coordination of regions and municipalities' work with vaccination programs and recommendations. The unit also follows up and actively works with various aspects regarding vaccine acceptance.

About the employment
You will be employed as an investigator with a placement at our office in Solna or Östersund. The employment is a permanent full-time position starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date is as soon as possible according to agreement.
As an employee at the Public Health Agency of Sweden, you may be assigned to wartime duties. Some positions are classified security-sensitive where Swedish citizenship may be a requirement. Security clearance will then be conducted in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
At the agency, there may be an opportunity to agree on remote work up to 40 percent of your working time.
