About the role

As an IT Application Specialist, you work with IT systems connected to medical technology equipment and healthcare-related processes. You serve as a technical link between healthcare operations, biomedical engineers, Region Halland's IT and digitalization department, and suppliers.

The role covers the entire technical chain: from client and application to integrations, networks, application servers, databases, permissions, documentation, and IT security. You work both operationally with troubleshooting and maintenance, and strategically with upgrades, changes, and improvement initiatives.

You are part of MTH Information Systems, which supports healthcare across Region Halland. The group consists of approximately 15 employees based in Halmstad and Varberg. This specific position is located in Halmstad, and you will join the Physiological and Patient-Bound Diagnostics teams. Both teams work broadly across all healthcare administrations and in close collaboration with the biomedical engineers responsible for the equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Application operations, system administration, and technical documentation
• Planning and executing upgrades, service windows, and preventive maintenance
• Troubleshooting and resolving incidents across the entire chain: equipment, client, application, network, servers, and databases
• Participating in projects such as procurement, implementations, and system replacements
• Developing technical requirements and specifications for suppliers
• Supporting suppliers during installation and commissioning
• Managing permissions, IT security, and data protection

About us

Medical Technology Halland (MTH) is on a mission to support and develop healthcare throughout Region Halland by providing safe medical technology products in suitable facilities, with robust supply systems and service support. We currently have over 80 employees, including engineers, technicians, hospital physicists, and administrators. We primarily operate from Halmstad, Varberg, and Kungsbacka.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with:

• An IT or engineering degree, or equivalent competence
• Experience in technical support and operations within a medium to large organization
• Good understanding of complex IT environments, including networks
• Experience troubleshooting in client and server environments
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Windows 11, and Microsoft server services
• Knowledge of SQL, AD (Active Directory), and DNS
• Interest in IT security and data protection
• Experience working in projects or change management
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in Swedish (English is also used in supplier dialogues)
• Valid driver's license (Category B)

Meritorious experience:

• Medical technology IT systems or healthcare IT
• System administration and lifecycle management
• ITIL and structured improvement work
• System integrations
• Network segmentation
• Testing, validation, and documentation
• Work in regulated environments, e.g., MDR/IVDR
• DICOM

You do not need to be a medical technology expert. If you have a solid IT technical foundation, good troubleshooting skills, and a desire to understand healthcare needs, there are excellent opportunities for development in this role. You work in a structured manner and take responsibility for the big picture. You have strong troubleshooting, prioritization, and organizational skills, even when handling multiple issues simultaneously. You plan and follow up on your work, document solutions, and ensure tasks are completed. You can explain technical issues in an understandable way and value documentation and order. Personal suitability is highly valued.
