to apply for the job
For an international company with operations in the Gothenburg area, we are now looking for a secure, independent, and analytical Financial Controller. This is a broad and business-close role for you who want to take overall responsibility for accounting, annual accounts, reporting, and financial quality in an organization with strong international connections.
This role suits you who thrive in a smaller context where you get great ownership, short decision-making paths, and the opportunity to influence both structure, processes, and ways of working. The local organization consists of approximately 25 employees, where the majority work close to customers and operations, while the back-office function is small and collaborative.
The company operates in an international environment with central processes, group reporting, and many contact points outside Sweden. You work locally in Swedish, but English is used continuously in international contexts.
About the role
As a Financial Controller, you will become a key person in the Swedish company and work closely with the CFO. You will have a broad responsibility where you both drive operational accounting work and ensure reporting, annual accounts, and financial quality according to both local and international requirements.
The role is initially hands-on and requires that you are comfortable taking responsibility where needed. At the same time, there are good opportunities to influence how the work is structured and developed forward.
Your main tasks:
- Own monthly and annual accounts and ensure deadlines are met
- Responsible for group reporting according to IFRS towards international functions
- Be the contact person for auditors and drive the annual reporting process
- Handle ongoing accounting and reconciliations
- Work with analyses, liquidity, and follow-up
- Ensure internal control and financial processes
- Contribute to the development of routines, processes, and ways of working
- Act as a secure economic partner internally and in dialogue with external parties
We are looking for you who
We are looking for you who want to have overall responsibility. You have several years of experience in qualified accounting work, annual accounts, and reporting, and are secure in driving the work forward independently.
To succeed in the role, you need to have a good understanding of both K3 and IFRS and be able to navigate the differences between local regulations and international group reporting. You need to be comfortable making your own assessments, justifying your conclusions, and standing firm in dialogue with both internal and external stakeholders.
We see that you have:
- Several years of experience in independent annual account work and accounting
- Sound understanding of K3 and IFRS and the differences between them
- Experience of international reporting and working towards clear deadlines
- Very good knowledge of Excel
- Good system familiarity and confidence in business systems
- Communicates fluently in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing
It is meritorious if you have a background from an audit firm, experience from an international company, or experience from a regulated industry. Experience with larger ERP systems is also meritorious, but not a requirement.
As a person, you are independent, responsible, and secure in your competence. You thrive in a role where you are expected to take own initiatives, raise risks early, and drive your areas of responsibility forward without needing detailed control at every step.
You are meticulous and quality-conscious, but at the same time pragmatic and solution-oriented. You understand the importance of deadlines and financial correctness, but can also prioritize and create progress in an environment where not everything is always ready-made.
