About VBU

Västerbergslagens Educational Consortium (VBU) is a municipal consortium working on behalf of the municipalities of Ludvika and Smedjebacken. VBU provides upper secondary education, adult education, adapted upper secondary school, vocational higher education, commissioned training, municipal activity responsibility (KAA), and cultural schools. VBU has approximately 260 employees, 3,000 students, and an annual turnover of approximately 260 million SEK. Our operations are located in Ludvika, Smedjebacken, and Grängesberg. About the Job

Do you want a varied daily routine and to work on a broad front with study and career guidance? If so, this might be the position for you! At VBU, you will collaborate with other study and career counselors at the upper secondary level, and your assignment will target both university-preparatory and vocational programs.

Your task is to contribute to our students' goal achievement and completion of their education. You will support each individual student in seeing their opportunities and contribute to their sustainable future choices. The focus is on guidance individually and in groups, collaboration in our Educational and Health Team (EHT) and management group, close cooperation with mentors, and the development and follow-up of individual study plans. You will have SYV colleagues within VBU and also be part of a formalized network with counselors in primary schools in our two owner municipalities. Together with your SYV colleagues, you will also be significant in the marketing of our programs.

About You

We are looking for you who have a degree in study and career guidance or another relevant higher education degree. Good knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written, can be particularly meritorious.

You understand how background, culture, and group affiliation can affect individuals and interpersonal relationships, and you value diversity. You have good collaboration skills, a solution-focused approach, and you understand the value of cooperation based on your professional mission. You have a desire to create good conditions for all our students to reach their goals.

A category B driver's license is required.

About the Employment Terms

The position is a permanent full-time position. Start date according to agreement. The position involves study and career guidance, preferably at the youth upper secondary level, specifically on the Construction and Civil Engineering Program, Vehicle Program, Economics Program, Arts Program, Sales and Service Program, IB Diploma Program, and Social Science Program.

We may apply a 6-month probationary period, and we request a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) upon employment.
