Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoc to lead a project focused on implementing high-throughput serological assays for pandemic preparedness. You will contribute to understanding factors influencing how viruses spread within the Swedish population, with the ultimate goal of preventing and mitigating future pandemics.

You will establish PhIP-seq technology in our group, handling everything from library management and assay optimization to sequencing and data generation. The work involves molecular biology, including cloning, PCR, sequencing, and serological assays. A central challenge is to develop a robust, high-throughput workflow that enables population-based analyses of large cohorts.

The project is part of a broader initiative to combine advanced serology with innovative methods for self-collection of blood samples. You will work in an interdisciplinary research environment at KTH, in close collaboration with researchers within proteomics, epidemiology, and computational biology.

The position offers the opportunity to take independent responsibility for a method development project with a strong translational focus, and to contribute to scalable solutions for monitoring infectious diseases and pandemic preparedness.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A completed PhD degree or an international degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD. This requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Documented research competence in molecular biology, immunology, genetics, or a related field.
  • Practical experience with molecular biology methods such as cloning, PCR, sequencing, western blot, and bacterial culture. Experience with phage display is particularly meritorious.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
  • Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues, with a particular focus on gender equality.

Meritorious Qualifications

  • At the application deadline, no more than three years have passed since the PhD degree or an international degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD was awarded.
  • Experience in human immunology and serological assays.
  • Previous experience in supervision, teaching, or similar is meritorious, although teaching is not a mandatory part of the position.

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.
