Your Responsibilities

The Department of Social Work conducts research, education at undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as doctoral education within the main field of social work. The department's most extensive teaching assignment is within the Social Work Programme, 210 hp.

As a University Lecturer in Social Work, you will teach at both undergraduate and advanced levels. Teaching is primarily conducted in Swedish, but some elective courses are offered in English. You will supervise students within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences' various programmes, primarily the Social Work Programme and the Master's Programme in Social Work. The work includes course design and course responsibility.

At the department, we strive for lecturers not only to teach but also to conduct research in areas relevant to the position. As a lecturer, a certain percentage of the position is allocated to research and competence development within the framework of employment. We aim to create opportunities for long-term competence development and merit accumulation within both research and teaching. You are expected to actively, together with others within or outside the department, seek external research funding.

We assume that you are active in the research community, participate in the department's activities such as seminars and workshops, participate in research projects, communicate results through academic publications, and contribute to attracting external research funding. Collaboration is an integrated part of the university's research and educational mission.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence, and have demonstrated pedagogical skill, or other professional competence that is significant with regard to the subject content and tasks of the position.

For this position, special weight will first be placed on pedagogical skill, and secondly on scientific skill and other skills which are considered equivalent to each other.

Regarding pedagogical skill, the following will be assessed:

  • The requirement for the position is documented skill in teaching, within higher education, in Social Work.
  • Especially meritorious is documented skill in teaching within one or more of the following areas: profession, organization, and leadership in Social Work.
  • Meritorious is documented skill in conducting profession-specific teaching in Social Work.

Regarding scientific skill, the following will be assessed:

  • The requirement for the position is documented scientific skill in Social Work.
  • Especially meritorious is documented skill in independently conducting high-quality research with relevance within one or more of the following areas: profession, organization, and leadership in Social Work.
  • Meritorious is research with a clear connection to the practice field of Social Work.

Regarding other skills, the following will be assessed:

  • Especially meritorious is a degree in Social Work (Socionom).
  • Meritorious for the position is documented skill in collaboration within education and research.
  • Meritorious is good teamwork skills and the ability to contribute to the development of the work group, collegial working methods, and social community.
  • Meritorious is a structured way of working, by being able to plan, organize, and prioritize work in an effective manner.
  • Meritorious is creating and maintaining good relationships with colleagues and students in both your own environment and outside, within the scientific and pedagogical operations.

Since teaching is primarily conducted in Swedish but also in English, and research is conducted in both Swedish and English, you must demonstrate the ability to teach and conduct research in both Swedish and English.
