Do you want to make a difference? In the 2024/2025 school year, 19,700 students in Sweden failed to complete compulsory school. There are schools where 7 out of 10 students do not qualify for upper secondary education. At the non-profit foundation Läxhjälpen (Homework Help), you contribute your skills and commitment to help more students meet the eligibility requirements with confidence for their future.
We are now looking for new homework helpers in Borlänge! We are looking for you who are interested in a paid part-time job while simultaneously making a concrete social contribution. The position is an hourly employment in the afternoons/evenings, which in short means working as a homework helper after school hours at one of our partner schools. Here, you work in a team of three homework helpers, all of whom are university students. You receive training in and work according to our structured approach. Each homework help group consists of 15 students, and together with your colleagues, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on the work.
As a homework helper, you can work either as a regular helper or as a substitute. As a regular homework helper, you work 6 hours per week, distributed over two scheduled afternoons/evenings (with the possibility of extra shifts). As a substitute, you work when regular helpers are on leave or sick. The work is carried out after school hours in the school premises.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a university or college student
- Has pedagogical skills and can communicate and build relationships with children and young people.
- Is solution-oriented, proactive, and able to work according to our structured approach and methodology.
- Has broad basic subject knowledge and good study techniques.
- Shares Läxhjälpen Foundation's values and vision of a society where all children grow up with the prerequisites to succeed in school and shape their own future.
Since the job involves working with children, we place great emphasis on personal suitability. Providing an extract from the police criminal record to the employer is a statutory requirement for working with children and young people.
Differences between schools, where you live, where you come from, and what your parents do increasingly determine the likelihood of you succeeding in school. Läxhjälpen Foundation is a non-profit foundation that operates where it is needed most. Homework help is free for the students, and the homework helpers' salaries are financed through support from the business community and the public sector.
Läxhjälpen is a concrete effort addressing one of Sweden's biggest problems today – that more and more young people are failing school and risk falling outside of society. Carefully selected, paid university students help young people with their studies two evenings a week and serve as positive role models and mentors. Since our founding in 2007, we have developed a structured approach and a clear goal – grades should improve, and students should progress to upper secondary education. We are now present in over 90 schools in cities including Stockholm, Södertälje, Västerås, Norrköping, Gothenburg, Landskrona, Umeå, Sundsvall, Uppsala, Gävle, and Malmö.
