We are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher for the Division of Vehicle Systems at the Department of Electrical Engineering (ISY).
Your Responsibilities
Your role will be as a researcher in a 2-year research project in close collaboration with industry, with the goal of developing methods for an ML-based decision support system for monitoring and fault diagnosis of gas turbines. The project involves developing a holistic solution that combines machine learning methods with physical models to estimate the health of various components in the system. The aim is to improve diagnostic performance over time as more data becomes available. The results from the diagnostic system will be compiled for an operator using AI-based fault isolation algorithms in combination with data-driven classifiers.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. You are expected to actively publish and present results in scientific journals and conferences. Teaching may also be part of your duties, but to a maximum of one-fifth of your working time.
Your Qualifications
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, you must have obtained a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must have been obtained no later than the time when the employment decision is made.
It is an advantage if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. In special cases, a doctoral degree obtained earlier may be considered, for example, due to various types of statutory leave.
We are looking for someone with a doctoral degree in electrical engineering, technical physics, mathematics, computer science, or equivalent, with knowledge in programming, physical modeling, machine learning, signal processing, and control engineering. It is an advantage if you have experience in implementing and integrating various methods in complex systems.
You are clear in your communication with others and have a good ability to express yourself in English, both orally and in writing. You must also have the ability to collaborate with others to achieve common goals. We also expect you to be structured and able to plan, prioritize, and carry out your tasks in an independent and systematic manner. The position also requires high analytical skills, the ability to identify and solve problems efficiently, as well as the ability to see and understand contexts and how different parts of the system affect each other.
Your Workplace
As a postdoctoral researcher at the Division of Vehicle Systems, you will become part of an international and industry-oriented research environment. The division conducts research and basic and doctoral education in autonomous systems, electrification, battery systems, advanced diagnostics and prognostics, as well as modeling and control of vehicle functions.
Through a close link between theory and practical applications, often in collaboration with industrial partners, good conditions are created for research with high scientific quality and clear industrial relevance.
