Your Responsibilities

This position involves teaching Physical Education and Religious Studies on the national upper secondary programs as well as the introductory program. Teaching will take place at both upper secondary level and in grades 7–9.

As a teacher, you will work with planning, teaching, evaluation, and values-based work according to the curriculum, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues. You will cooperate with parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders in the school to achieve higher goal fulfillment and create the best possible conditions for every student. Your teaching should be varied and challenging, adapted to the student group you meet, and the use of digital tools is a natural part of your work.

You promote collegial learning through discussion and reflection at both planned and spontaneous occasions. To benefit student learning as well as your own and the organization's development, you utilize the experiences and knowledge of different professions.

The position includes teaching on the introductory program, the natural sciences program, and the technology program. The introductory program is aimed at students who are not eligible for upper secondary school; with us, students study language introduction or individual alternatives. Students often have a background of problematic school situations in primary school, may be newly arrived, and have a great need for support in both teaching and daily life. All students study primary school subjects, and the programs are adapted to each student's prerequisites. The work is based on close collaboration between teachers and other school staff. The position also includes mentoring.

Your Workplace

Berzeliusskolan is a centrally located school in Linköping with modern facilities. It includes the upper stage of primary school, upper secondary school, and adapted upper secondary school. The upper secondary school covers the natural sciences and technology programs, as well as the introductory program with a focus on language introduction and individual alternatives. In total, there are approximately 1,900 students, of which just over 1,000 are in upper secondary school, and about 330 employees.

The Ideal Candidate

First and foremost, we are looking for someone with a teaching license with eligibility to teach Physical Education and Religious Studies at the upper secondary level and in grades 7–9. Secondarily, we seek those with a completed upper secondary teacher education or those in the final stages of their teacher training.

It is a requirement that you have experience working in a curriculum-guided school through practice or as an employee. It is an asset if you have taught at the upper secondary level, in grades 7–9, or on the introductory program. Experience with students in need of special support is also an asset.

As an upper secondary teacher, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well acquainted with the curriculum (Gy11/Gy25) and other governing documents. Since this position also includes teaching at the primary school level, you must also have good knowledge of the primary school curriculum (LGR22). You have good communicative skills in spoken and written Swedish to support students' language and communication development and ensure that every student can use Swedish in a rich and nuanced way.

You are a good role model, adapt your teaching to the students, and let them participate. In a quality-conscious manner, you create good conditions for the student's development and learning and document this. You cooperate well with colleagues, parents, and other contacts in society relevant to your professional role.
