Class Teacher Grades 1-6

Job Responsibilities

As a class teacher, you will follow a class from grades 1 to 6. You are responsible for the students' learning and development through teaching, guidance, and support. In your work and teaching, you will follow the national curriculum as well as the Waldorf school's work plan A Path to Freedom. Documenting, following up, and evaluating, as well as communicating students' development with guardians, are other important tasks included.

One of the foundations of Waldorf pedagogy is teacher-led instruction, which involves storytelling and bringing lessons to life through creative and practical tasks, where experiences are the basis for students' foundational knowledge. Digital tools are, of course, available but are used restrictively.

Experience and Qualities

We are primarily looking for someone who is a certified primary school teacher with Waldorf teacher certification or state certification and who has previous experience or interest in Waldorf pedagogy. If you have experience in other educational work or other educational training, this may also be of interest. We place great importance on personal suitability and the desire to practice Waldorf pedagogy.

You are communicative, comfortable with responsibility and independent work. You easily build trusting relationships and collaborate with students and guardians. You see the benefits of good cooperation between colleagues, student health teams, and school management.

As a teacher, you have clear pedagogical leadership in your classroom and the ability to adapt teaching based on the needs of the students. You enjoy working creatively and are willing to learn to use art, drama, crafts, and music as part of the teaching. We value your ability to work in a structured manner and to plan and organize your work effectively.

About Us

Rudolf Steiner School in Norrköping was founded in 1975. Today, the school accommodates about 230 students from preschool to grade 9. We are a non-profit, independent school and one of about 1000 Waldorf schools around the world.

Rudolf Steiner School conducts teaching in a thoughtful environment that allows individuals to grow and develop through studies and play. All senses are involved in learning, which can consist of practical, aesthetic, and academic elements. The educator's meeting with the student is characterized by responsiveness and curiosity and always takes into account the individual.

The Waldorf school bases its teaching on its own work plan; A Path to Freedom, which is integrated with the national curriculum Lgr 22.
