Teacher for Hotel, Restaurant and Bakery Program – Adapted Upper Secondary School

In this role, you will become part of the Sector for Children and Education. Here, the development of children and young people is our focus. About us: Gymnasium Skövde is the collective name for the municipality's two upper secondary schools, Kavelbro and Västerhöjd. Together, the schools offer 16 national upper secondary programs, introductory programs with various orientations, as well as adapted upper secondary school with three national programs and an individual program. Gymnasium Skövde currently has approximately 2,300 students and 300 employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you want to help young people find a safe path into working life?

We are currently seeking an engaged and practically minded teacher for our Hotel, Restaurant, and Bakery program within the adapted upper secondary school, national program. Here, students get the opportunity to grow, develop, and gain knowledge for future work in kitchens, serving, and service.

You will teach vocational subjects related to hotels, restaurants, and bakeries with a focus on practical learning and clear structure. Students are taught in smaller groups with significant individual adaptation and close collaboration between teachers, student assistants, and student health services.

• Plan and conduct teaching in vocational subjects
• Introduce students to practical work in kitchens, serving, and hotels
• Prepare and mentor students before and during work-based learning (APL)
• Work based on the adapted school's governing documents and ensure that teaching follows the curriculum and course plans
• Document and follow up on students' knowledge development and contribute to grading
• Act as a mentor for a group of students
• Collaborate with colleagues at the unit to create a safe and supportive learning environment

We have a clear focus on students' transition to working life after graduation, with the goal that they should be as independent as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

• has professional experience in restaurants, large-scale kitchens, hotels, or bakeries
• has teaching certification and experience in pedagogical work
• is clear, confident, and has a warm approach
• has experience working with young people with intellectual disabilities and/or neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF)
• enjoys working both practically and pedagogically

Great importance is attached to personal suitability.

To begin working in preschool, school, leisure centers, and other pedagogical activities, you are required to show an extract from the criminal register. The extract is valid for one year and is ordered from the Swedish Police Authority at www.polisen.se (https://www.polisen.se).

Anyone who has not shown an extract from the criminal register cannot be employed, engaged, or admitted to the activity according to current legal requirements.
