The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse, throughout the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. No matter where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.

SiS youth home Ljungbacken receives boys aged 16 to 20 years. The institution is located in Uddevalla.

Job Description:

SiS Ljungbacken is now looking for a teacher qualified to teach religion and history at the upper secondary level for our school Ljungskolan. Ljungskolan is a newly built school under development, and if you are passionate about helping the most vulnerable youth in society, we can offer an exciting position with a high degree of variation and the opportunity to truly make a difference. We can offer a high teacher-to-student ratio, good teaching resources, and pedagogical guidance.

SiS Ljungbacken primarily receives non-compulsory school boys. Our students can range from motivated upper secondary students without special needs to youth with significant gaps and a great need for support, often with an NPF and/or IF diagnosis. In exceptional cases, we also accept compulsory school students. The students need support from reliable adults with strong empathetic abilities and good skills in encouraging, motivating, and setting clear boundaries. Many of the students have disabilities of a socio-emotional and neuropsychiatric nature, so experience in this area is desirable. You will complement a group of teachers who work closely in teams to build a program that motivates students towards educational development. If you have good subject knowledge, are skilled at motivating students, see students' differences as pedagogical development opportunities, and value relationship-building work, then you might be the one we are looking for.

Qualifications:

You have:

  • Teaching certification with qualifications to teach religion and history at the upper secondary level
  • Good documentation skills
  • Proficient Swedish in both spoken and written form
  • Experience with NPF and IF (adapted primary and secondary school) is an advantage

You are a person with great commitment, creativity, and a solution-focused mindset. You have a strong empathetic ability and good skills in encouraging, motivating, and setting clear boundaries. You are passionate about helping youth in difficulties. You have a positive attitude and believe in each individual's potential for development. Your role includes motivating students to continue their education and providing them with the right conditions to succeed. You have a good ability to collaborate both internally and externally. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Employment:

As an employee at SiS, several benefits are included in your employment, which you can read about here: Benefits as a state employee - SiS (https://stat-inst.se/for-medarbetare/formaner-som-statligt-anstalld).

The position is a permanent full-time employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.

Vacation position.

We may conduct interviews on an ongoing basis during the application period.
