Description
Polhemsgymnasiet is located in the vibrant and knowledge-intensive Lindholmen and has a well-developed collaboration with its neighbors, which consist of other high schools, Chalmers, the IT University, and various companies.
Through study visits, guest lectures, and high school projects at different companies, our students are inspired, gain their own network, and acquire knowledge about what further studies and qualified professions entail. We also have a broad international network and exchanges with other countries.
Polhemsgymnasiet is beautifully situated on the Northern Riverbank. The school offers four college preparatory programs as well as the IMA program, with approximately 1,700 students and 130 employees.
Job Responsibilities
You will work with the social program, which has about 500 students, and be part of the unit's student health team. At Polhemsgymnasiet, we work together on our development efforts, which means you will closely collaborate with the program's principal and teachers, as well as with the other three special educators and the rest of the student health team regarding issues that concern the entire school's operations.
The role involves developing the learning environments at the school. Through consultations, observations, and guidance, you will support educators in their work to create accessible and inclusive teaching. You will assist in developing additional adaptations, teaching materials, and teaching methods based on the needs of students and groups. You will also be involved in investigations regarding students in need of special support. You will plan and implement professional development initiatives for educators and provide support to the principal in the change process.
The work is characterized by and based on collaboration within our student health team consisting of the principal, school counselor, school nurse, and school psychologist, both program-specific and school-wide. Furthermore, it is equally natural for us to have close collaboration with teachers, which is why you will also participate and work in the program's working teams.
Qualifications
You are a licensed teacher for older age groups with an interest in and preferably experience in special education. It is a requirement that you are trained - or are in the process of training - to become a special educator. We would like you to have experience in high school.
You have good insight into and knowledge of the school's governing documents and can apply them in your daily work. You possess excellent didactic and pedagogical skills. You have experience and a genuine interest in school development work, where you are resourceful in finding solutions and work proactively to realize development and change. You work systematically with high quality, can work independently and efficiently. You see opportunities and have a desire to develop the operations.
You are communicative and collaborate well with others as you see collaboration as a natural way to work. It is natural for you to work together with students and other staff in the core activities, i.e., in the classroom or in other places where learning occurs. You are good at building relationships with students, staff, and guardians.
