Authority for Civil Defense Seeks Officer for Signal Protection Service
The Authority for Civil Defense is the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defense. We ensure that society is prepared for crises, heightened readiness, and war.
The need to exchange information is increasing in line with the rearmament of total defense.
The security policy development places ever higher demands on effective, accessible, and user-friendly solutions to ensure that actors within total defense have access to the right information at the right time – even when confidentiality requirements are high. Would you like to contribute to the development of total defense's ability to share information securely? Then you could be our next colleague.
With us, you will work to strengthen the civil defense's ability to exchange security-protected classified information. You will be part of the team that acts as central representatives within the signal protection service in the Section for Secure Information Sharing. With us, you will have the opportunity to direct, lead, and coordinate the civil defense's signal protection service to contribute to the development of secure information exchange within total defense.
Your Responsibilities and Tasks
As an officer, you will be part of the team that, together with the National Defense Radio Establishment (FRA), the Armed Forces, and the Defense Materiel Administration (FMV), constitutes the central representatives for the signal protection service.
The Authority for Civil Defense, together with FRA, represents actors within civil defense in the work with secure cryptographic functions. The tasks include making decisions about which operators within civil defense should have secure cryptographic functions and, together with other central representatives, ensuring that civil operators receive the right training, authorizations, information, and technical equipment for their operations.
Your tasks also include supporting civil operators within total defense. This includes training and advice on signal protection in general. You are expected to contribute to ensuring that the needs of civil defense are represented by supporting the Armed Forces in both the development and implementation of new signal protection systems and technical support systems for command and cooperation in total defense. The task includes gathering the needs of civil defense regarding signal protection and contributing to the requirements specification of new technical support systems.
Your Knowledge and Competencies
We are looking for someone with a relevant academic education or another educational background deemed equivalent. You have at least five years of work experience in a relevant field for the role and experience working with IT security or information security. Furthermore, you are accustomed to conducting training or presentations and have experience working within total defense.
It is advantageous if you have:
- completed training as a signal protection manager, signal protection teacher, or crypto custodian.
- experience leading others.
- experience working in the public sector.
- experience working with requirements specification and evaluation in the development of new technical systems. Particularly advantageous is experience in requirements specification for network-based IT environments.
- a broad network within the signal protection area.
In all our work, both internally and externally, we must act based on the state value framework. Like all employees and leaders with us, you are expected to act according to the authority's approach.
The approaches apply in everyday life, crises, and war. They should be seen as a whole and build on each other; collaborative – proactive - action-oriented.
We are looking for someone who works systematically to achieve set goals while contributing to the long-term development of the organization. You drive your work independently and make well-considered decisions within your area of responsibility. You build good relationships and easily collaborate with both internal and external actors. You have the ability to see what needs to be developed and take the initiative for improvements. Additionally, you use your pedagogical skills to conduct training and provide advice clearly and confidently.
About the Employment
We offer you a permanent full-time position that begins with a probationary period. Your workplace will be Karlstad or Stockholm at our Tomteboda office, and travel may occur in the employment.
The majority of our positions involve placement in a security class; Swedish citizenship is required. When placed in a security class, a security review with a background check will be conducted prior to employment according to Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Most employees at the Authority for Civil Defense are war-placed.
About Us
In the Section for Secure Information Sharing, we are seven employees, and we are located in both Karlstad and Stockholm. In our section, we work to safeguard the needs and interests of total defense for secure handling of information. The section does this by supporting total defense's work with secure handling of information to facilitate command and cooperation within total defense and by ensuring the protection and secure dissemination of essential societal information.
We have an activity-based office where you can choose your workplace according to your own needs and what the organization requires. You may also have the opportunity for remote work to some extent. We also offer you the opportunity to take wellness hours, and you will receive a wellness grant. For you as a government employee, there are also favorable vacation conditions.
All of us working at the Authority for Civil Defense are expected to contribute to increased gender equality and equal treatment for a work environment and a society free from discrimination.
