Your new workplace

The Department of Education and Childcare is looking for a Vocational Teacher for the Vehicle and Transport Program at Västermalms Gymnasium.

Sundsvalls Gymnasium/Västermalm is an attractive and centrally located school; currently, over 1,000 students have chosen to complete their high school education with us! The Vehicle and Transport Program at Västermalms Gymnasium is quality assured through Motor Industry College: the education leads to work and development in a future-oriented industry. We are now looking for an engaged vocational teacher to join our team in the transport direction in Birsta!

Your contribution as a vocational teacher

You will work as a vocational teacher in our Transport Direction. You belong to the Vehicle and Transport Program and are involved in the development work of the program. You will work based on the school's governing documents and the directives of the Swedish Transport Agency as well as the Transport Workers' Occupational and Environmental Committee (TYA). You will collaborate with a wonderful team of vocational teachers, school management, and teachers in common subjects. In addition to vocational subject-specific knowledge, you will mentor a group of students and supervise students doing APL (workplace-based learning). Together with your colleagues, you will work to create high-quality high school education for students both academically and with good values throughout their three years at Sundsvalls Gymnasium. We communicate via V-class and Google environment. You will work in a team, take responsibility, and want to drive the teaching forward.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone with relevant vocational training: it is advantageous if you are a driving examiner. Preferably an instructor for forklift, wheel loader, and vehicle-mounted crane. We are looking for someone with extensive experience and a passion for working in the vehicle and transport industry and who wants to teach knowledge about the subject, the industry, and related professions to our youth.

We appreciate a good communicator and team player who can act as a bridge between school, students, and the business community. You find it easy to establish contacts as an important part of your role is working with APL, workplace-based learning, and thus acquiring and following up on students' education at the workplace. You have the ability to work independently while being team-oriented and collaborating with colleagues to best prepare students for their future careers. We highly value the ability to meet students based on their knowledge and needs. You should also enjoy a fast-paced environment and challenges in your work, mixed with a wonderful camaraderie in the group where everyone helps each other. Of course, we would like you to be a licensed vocational teacher, but your personal qualities, experiences, and willingness to develop weigh the most.

We offer mentorship for newly hired vocational teachers and help you get started in your role as a teacher with us in the Transport Direction.
