Workplace Description:

Vallaskolan is centrally located in the town of Sollefteå. The school has a total of about 550 students divided into two principal areas; grades 4-9 and adapted primary school. In the primary school, there are 24 classes. The school management consists of one principal and two assistant principals, who also teach in their roles. There are about 45 teaching positions, including special teachers and teachers in special education groups. In addition, there are some student hosts and resource persons. Within administration, student health, library, IT, and janitorial services, several other people are active. Six of the teachers are lead teachers. The lead teachers have an overarching role at the municipal level. Additionally, at the request of the principal, they also lead the development work at the school. The competence of the staff is highly valued by the school management, and there are good opportunities for development within the organization.

The operations are organized into grade working teams. Close collaboration among teachers in the teams and towards students facilitates the promoting and preventive student health work, joint assessments, interdisciplinary work, and other schedule-breaking activities. As a teacher, you will also be part of subject teams with several who teach the same subject. In the subject team, students' work is jointly assessed, common planning is created, and student results and evaluations are analyzed together. The school also has a program for newly arrived students integrated with a special teaching environment.

Sollefteå municipality has come a long way in terms of digitalization. All students have access to a Chromebook, and we extensively use Google's educational services in teaching. We also have access to digital teaching materials in most subjects, all classrooms are equipped with projectors, and all teachers have their own Chromebook. Using technology as a tool to promote learning and goal fulfillment is a given for the school.

At the unit, there is a well-developed student health service with special teachers, two counselors, two school nurses, a study and career counselor, and access to a school psychologist on a consultative basis. The school has well-developed strategies in the promoting and preventive student health work, in which student health is included in the teams' EHM (Student Health Meetings). The structure of the combined competence contributes to strengthening students in their development both academically and socially. There is always an IT technician on site, and the school library is well-equipped with staffing every day of the week.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching in Swedish, social studies, history, religion, and geography. Mentorship for a group of students.

You will be part of a working team where you together take responsibility for and develop the team's work with the student group. You will also be part of subject groups with special responsibility for subject didactic and pedagogical development.

QUALIFICATIONS

Educated teacher according to the Education Act with the authority to teach in the subjects mentioned above.
