Special Teacher with a Focus on Intellectual Disabilities
Kramfors Municipality is the natural hub of the High Coast, shaped over millennia. Here, people, places, and environments can grow according to their own conditions.
Together, we create welfare and a functioning society that is equal and fair for all who live and stay in the municipality. We proudly say that we have Sweden's most important job! This is a good starting point for a workday with us to feel meaningful.
Kramfors School is centrally located in Kramfors, close to both bus and train stations. The school is a unit for primary school grades 4–6 with about 300 students. Within the unit, there is also an adapted primary school for grades 1–9 and an after-school program.
Everything we do should be permeated by safety, engagement, and faith in the future. In our work with students, we start from health-promoting factors and the students' strengths. We also work from the premise that good relationships between students and adults are an important foundation for learning and development.
Collaboration and shared responsibility are important foundations in our operations, where we create conditions for both student development and a good working environment for all through good communication, cooperation, and collaboration. We see that movement, breaks, and social contexts are important parts of students' development, both academically and socially. A safe school environment with security, comfort, and study peace is created through clear structures, good communication, and close collaboration between all staff and guardians.
We are now looking for a special teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a special teacher focusing on intellectual disabilities, you will work to create accessible, structured, and safe learning environments where students are given the opportunity to develop academically, socially, and personally. The assignment includes working according to the school's governing documents, curriculum, and national goals, where teaching is designed to promote students' academic development, safety, and study peace.
You will collaborate closely with other teachers, student resources, student health, guardians, and external actors. As a special teacher, you will also be responsible for leading and coordinating the work of student resources around the students. This means planning and structuring the pedagogical work in the student group and contributing to clear working methods and pedagogical strategies. You will participate in the school's systematic quality work and contribute to the development of teaching and support measures.
Teaching is designed with the support of clarifying pedagogy, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), and a low-arousal and relational approach. Teaching can occur in class, in smaller groups, or individually.
Our Platform for Governance and Leadership guides us in our daily work and contributes to a uniform quality across the entire school unit. The platform clarifies our shared processes, roles, and responsibilities and is an important foundation in our work. The systematic quality work is a central part of the operations and is continuously used to develop teaching, organization, and learning environments with the goal of increasing students' goal fulfillment.
Placement, grades, classes, and subjects may vary throughout the year and between different school years based on the needs of the operations. The position includes mentorship for students.
