Payroll Manager for Growing Group

About the role

As Payroll Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the group's payroll function. You will lead a payroll unit with seven payroll administrators and be responsible for managing approximately 2,300 payrolls for around 60 companies within the group. The number of companies and employees is expected to continue to grow, making the role both dynamic and development-intensive.

The role involves a clear group perspective where you ensure consistency, quality, and compliance – while driving change, standardization, and efficiency in line with growth, integration of new companies, and increased demands for scalability. As the business is in a clear growth phase, it places high demands on structure, quality, efficiency, and strategic depth.

The role is both operational and strategic. You ensure correct and efficient payroll management while driving development, digitalization, and continuous improvements of processes, working methods, and systems. You report to the HR Director.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the payroll unit, including personnel, work environment, and development responsibility

• Overall group responsibility for the payroll process, from governance to delivery

• Strategic responsibility for developing and implementing routines, processes, and systems

• Drive change and improvement work related to growth, acquisitions, and harmonization

• Be a strategic advisor to management and managers on payroll, labor law, and organizational issues

• Ensure compliance with laws, collective agreements, and internal guidelines

Your profile

We are looking for someone who is a very experienced and secure leader with deep expertise in the payroll area and accustomed to working with multiple collective agreements. You have:

• At least 15 years of experience in qualified payroll work

• At least 10 years of documented leadership experience, preferably with responsibility for specialist teams

• Very good knowledge of Swedish labor law, collective agreements, and payroll processes

• Experience working in a group structure, preferably with many companies and different conditions

• High strategic ability and documented experience in driving change, efficiency, or transformation work

• Strategic and analytical, with the ability to see the big picture and long-term solutions

• Communicative and trustworthy in dialogue with both management and employees
