At the Vasaskolan principal area, we work to ensure that our students are always at the center. We strive for our school to be the best school for every student who attends here. A crucial factor for this is that we work together on planning, follow-up, assessment, and organization. Our students range from preschool to grade 6, and in each grade, there are teachers, leisure teachers, and teaching assistants as needed. Together, the professionals in the grades form the “Little Team,” where most of the operational issues of the grade are addressed. We are currently looking for leisure teachers to expand our work group.

In recent years, we have developed our knowledge regarding assessment, learned a lot about multilingualism, and had an extra focus on values education. In our principal area, we have two lead teachers who, together with the teaching team, have worked extra on developing teaching in both large and small ways. Our leisure teachers support the school during the day, which may involve working as support in the classroom or with an individual student. Furthermore, it may involve working with special support or conducting various skill trainings, e.g., reading training.

At Vasaskolan, we want learning to be fun, and that’s also why we laugh so much! Well-being, cooperation, and joy are just as important for our students as they are for us. You will come to a workplace with good cohesion where there is always a colleague nearby for support and help if needed.

Job Responsibilities

At Vasaskolan, we start the day with breakfast at the leisure center or outside in the yard with our wonderful children. You will work together with your Little Team throughout the school day and spend the afternoon at the leisure center. There, you will be responsible for an activity or participate in others' activities with the children. Depending on your area of responsibility, you will have individual planning each week, where you are expected to take your own initiative and document and evaluate your teaching according to the school's governing documents. We plan based on specific themes and place extra focus on our values education and increased student influence at our leisure center.

Every week, all leisure teachers have a conference where the systematic quality work in the leisure center is followed up and planned. We also review and co-plan the upcoming week's activities. When the leisure teachers have a conference, the teaching team takes care of the children at the leisure center. For us at Vasaskolan, all professionals' conferences are equally important, and that’s why we help each other.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a licensed leisure teacher with a focus on music and drama. We would also like you to have special educational competence. We see experience as meritorious, but we also offer mentoring support to those who are newly graduated.

As a person, it is important that you are flexible since every day in the school world is unique. You also need to be inventive, curious, and enjoy being challenged because in your role, you will meet our children in various constellations during both the school day and afternoon leisure. You will have close cooperation with several other adults, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be able to give and receive constructive criticism. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.
