The Highlands Association is a municipal federation formed by Aneby, Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö, and Vetlanda. These five municipalities, located in the Småland highlands, value cooperation and know that we are stronger together. By combining our strengths and resources, we can increase competence, better utilize resources, improve quality, and provide better service to our residents. Today, we have a range of different activities working for the benefit of the entire Highlands.

One of the activities within the Highlands Association is Höglandsgymnasiet. Höglandsgymnasiet has schools in Eksjö, Nässjö, Sävsjö, and Vetlanda. In total, we have about 550 employees working to ensure that our approximately 3000 students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for the future in the workforce or for further studies.

Your New Job

We are looking for a special education teacher in mathematics for Eksjö gymnasium. You will, together with our other special education teachers, be responsible for implementing special support at the school. You will teach students in upper secondary courses as well as students who do not have primary school grades. The teaching will be individual and/or in smaller groups, but teaching in larger groups may also occur.

As a special education teacher, you will participate as needed to support in the classroom alongside subject teachers. You will observe students in teaching situations, plan and be responsible for interventions at the class, group, and/or individual level. You will work in dialogue with subject teachers, special education teachers, special pedagogues, and the principal, and you will be a driving force in the development of special support at the school. Additionally, you will participate in our systematic student health work.

About You

We are looking for someone who has a teaching license with the authority to teach at the middle school and/or upper secondary level in mathematics, as well as a degree as a special education teacher in mathematics.

We need someone who enjoys working with young people, who wants to be a positive adult role model, and who listens to their students and lets them be a part of their teaching and its structure. You adapt easily to changing circumstances, enjoy collaborating with colleagues at the school, are self-driven, and take the initiative for development and improvement. Additionally, you are good at building connections and creating positive relationships.

About Our School

Eksjö gymnasium is located in central Eksjö and currently has about 580 students distributed across nine different programs and adapted upper secondary school. We provide our students with a safe study environment, with good conditions for further university studies and opportunities for meaningful work after graduation.

In addition to educators, several key personnel work at the school, with the common goal that all students should feel safe, be present in school, and succeed in their studies.

Good to Know

The position is a holiday service with a permanent employment starting from 2026-08-11 or by agreement. The employment rate is 100%.

To ensure that all new employees in our teaching positions have the right qualifications, we ask you to attach a valid teaching license obtained from the Swedish National Agency for Education that is no older than two months.

As a final candidate in the recruitment process, it is a requirement, in accordance with the Education Act, that you present an extract from the criminal record for work in schools. This extract can be requested on the police's website.

If you are called for an interview, you need to be able to prove your citizenship. You do this by presenting a valid passport or a certificate of citizenship along with a valid ID. The certificate of citizenship can be ordered from the tax agency under my pages. If you are a citizen of a country outside the EU/EES/Switzerland, you must also be able to present a valid residence and/or work permit to work in Sweden. Employment can only occur after the work permit has been verified, in accordance with the Aliens Ordinance.
