SiS Youth Home Långanäs receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse.

Job Description

Do you want to help create the vital difference for vulnerable youth? Then the job as a substitute teacher in the school is a meaningful and exciting challenge. Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, our commitment, and our attitude.

The educational activities within SiS follow the same regulations as the rest of the school system. The school is responsible for the education of all enrolled youth. The youth residing at the youth home should receive the education they need and are entitled to. The placed youth are between 16-21 years old. Almost all teaching occurs within the framework of the introduction program; individual alternatives, but there may also be compulsory school students and students within the framework of adapted schools. All students have an individual study plan where they, together with a mentor and study and career counselor, set goals and study basic and/or upper secondary common subjects based on their needs. Teaching is conducted full-time in smaller teaching groups.

We are looking for substitute teachers who can work in the school when needed. For the students, school is very important, and therefore we need to expand with substitutes who help us provide the teaching time that the students are entitled to.

In your role, you will replace regular staff in the educational activities when they are absent. This may involve taking on the role of a teacher in various subjects. You will collaborate not only with teachers but also with other professionals, such as nurses, treatment pedagogues, and psychologists.

All new staff at Långanäs undergo a local introduction of three days to gain the right conditions to perform their work, regardless of profession.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is key to vital change. Experience is valuable, but most importantly, you want to make a difference for each individual and be flexible. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is having a solid positive view of humanity, great empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. High adaptability and responsiveness are prerequisites for understanding new environments and thereby contributing to a functioning operation. It is important that you are responsible, proactive, have good collaboration skills, and can set boundaries when necessary.

You should:

• have experience in educational work in a school environment
• have a B driver's license

Meritorious:

• teaching certification for later years of compulsory school and/or upper secondary school or have started teacher training
