JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In Marks municipality, the open youth activities are organized within the culture and leisure administration. The youth activities focus on seeing young people as resources and starting from their experiences, feelings, and dreams. Our target group is young people aged 13 - 19 years.

Together with young people, you and your colleagues create opportunities for a good leisure time in the arenas where young people are present. As a youth counselor, you work concretely with youth participation, influence, active engagement, responsibility, and learning. Evening and weekend work occurs regularly.

Some examples of recurring tasks:

  • stimulate participation among the municipality's youth
  • support, inspire, and coach young people to realize themselves and achieve their visions.
  • build lasting, supportive, and positive relationships with the municipality's youth
  • create educational conditions for and follow up on informal learning
  • keep a logbook, conduct surveys, and continuously follow up on the work
  • collaborate within the culture and leisure administration, with other administrations, associations, and businesses.
  • actively participate in a constantly ongoing development of the operations
  • work at our meeting places for young people.
  • create and offer activities for the municipality's youth

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with post-secondary education or other education/experience that the employer assesses as equivalent.

We welcome employees with diverse backgrounds, and therefore, education in one or more of the following areas is meritorious: Leisure leader education, sociology, social pedagogy, practical public health promotion, social studies with a focus on democracy, human rights, and integration, developmental psychology, group and organizational psychology, pedagogy, gender studies, culture and art, project management and/or leadership. It is an advantage if you can demonstrate good skills in the digital area as it is a very important area for us in our operational development. Experience in the profession is meritorious as well as knowledge of the KEKS network (work process and values). For us, a balanced gender distribution is an important part of a sustainable and inclusive work climate.

A driver's license (B) is a requirement.

As a person, we want you to be curious, inspiring, and communicative. It is important that you have the ability to take initiative and are proactive, attentive, and see the benefits of collaboration. Good skills in speaking and writing are essential.

The position requires that as a youth counselor, you have:

  • the ability to communicate in a safe and trustworthy manner with people of different ages and positions in society, both individually and in groups.
  • good theoretical grounding, good analytical ability, and a fundamental social engagement.
