As a field secretary at Housing First, you will work both as a support provider and coordinate efforts based on case management methodology. This means you will offer practical and social support to participants while coordinating care and support efforts with other actors such as social services, healthcare, and other community services.

The job requires great flexibility and the ability to take responsibility, as you independently drive your processes forward and adapt support based on each participant's individual needs and goals. You plan, implement, and follow up on efforts in a structured way while maintaining space for creativity and relationship-building meetings.

At Housing First, we believe that every individual has the potential to change their life, and we work together with our participants to help them achieve their self-expressed goals. The target group includes individuals with long-term homelessness and complex social issues, often related to addiction and mental health problems. Our work is based on strong relationships and individualized support. Inspiring and strengthening motivation for change is a cornerstone of our work.

You will work daytime hours and have the opportunity for flexibility when the business allows.

Home visits are an important part of our work, but how support is structured varies depending on the unique needs of our participants. With us, the work is creative and developed together with the participants. This includes support in contacts with authorities, healthcare, and a significant amount of motivational and relationship-building activities.

Qualifications

The basic requirement for the position is that you are a trained social worker, or have at least a three-year university education that the employer assesses as equivalent. You should also have an interest in working with adults with psychosocial issues such as addiction and mental health problems, as well as a B driver's license.

It is advantageous if you have basic knowledge of the Housing First model and previous experience working with socially vulnerable individuals.

You are friendly and helpful to others even in stressful situations. You show respect for everyone you meet at work. You are inviting and positive. You work to ensure that the student/client/user gets what they need.

You have a good understanding of how individuals absorb knowledge and their different conditions. You adapt the way you convey your message to the recipient and encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement.

You have the courage and ability to make your own decisions within the framework of your assignment without being dependent on others. You take responsibility for your tasks and drive the work forward.

About Us

The Social Administration South West is one of four social administrations in the City of Gothenburg with around 900 employees. In the South West urban area, about 120,000 residents live, and the area stretches from Billdal to Högsbohöjd and to the southern archipelago.
