We are expanding and looking for a new employee to join us at the Family Counseling Service who wants to be part of our important work!

The Family Counseling Service of the City of Gothenburg is part of the Family Support Unit and is a city-wide operation within the Social Administration Center.

The mission of the service is to help adults, couples, and families manage cohabitation problems and relationship difficulties through conversations. The Family Counseling Service is based on a child perspective with the aim of giving every child a good start in life - the parents' relationship is the child's upbringing environment.

The reception has recently moved to newly renovated premises at Olof Palme Square in central Gothenburg and currently consists of nine family counselors.

We are an experienced workgroup with various educational backgrounds, all with psychotherapy training as a further education. All family counselors are trained in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), an attachment-based couple and family therapy method grounded in attachment theory, systems theory, and humanistic psychology.

Your work as a family counselor mainly consists of therapeutic treatment conversations with couples, but also individuals and families. Each family counselor works independently and has their own treatment responsibility, but collaboration and shared responsibility for our clients are central to providing equal services with high quality and maintaining a sustainable workplace. The focus in the conversations is on crises, repair, separations, communication, and interaction.

We also conduct outreach, preventive work, and group activities. You are expected to actively participate in all tasks of the reception and contribute to method and knowledge development. Working hours are mainly during the day, but evening work may occur.

Qualifications

You have a degree in social work or equivalent higher education of 3 years or more that the employer assesses as equivalent. Basic training in psychotherapy (level 1) is a requirement.

You also have knowledge and work experience in relational work with couples and families. Additional training in couple or family therapy is an advantage.

You seek and seize opportunities to think innovatively in work-related contexts, keep yourself updated through environmental monitoring, and regularly reflect on what needs to be developed in your work.
