Residential Support Worker - Special Housing

Residential support housing is an adapted living arrangement for adults with disabilities who need support in their daily lives. There are two forms of residential support housing: group housing and service housing. The operation is part of the care and welfare sector in Skövde municipality.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for someone who wants a rewarding and developing job. In the role of support assistant within residential support housing, you have the opportunity to contribute to ensuring that our users can achieve a high quality of life in their daily lives. Based on individual needs and wishes, you support our users by providing practical and everyday assistance. Together with the support pedagogue, you will also be involved in the day-to-day work with users in their daily activities. In a pedagogical manner, you stimulate and motivate the individual towards participation and an independent life. The assignment also includes documentation work in our systems.

At Smedsgården, daily activities are conducted for the individuals living there. The work involves working with the animals on the farm as well as handling firewood and some cultivation.

On the farm, there are about 50 chickens and 2 cats.

You assist users with everyday activities such as household chores, personal care, and leisure activities. The job responsibilities also include assisting with transfers, distributing medication, handling physical and digital aids, and performing delegated and prescribed interventions according to the Health and Medical Services Act (HSL).

In addition to the tasks included in the job description, you will also have extended responsibility in a specific area. Your manager will designate, in consultation with you, which area suits you and your profile best. Examples of such roles include responsible support assistant, fire safety representative, and hygiene representative.

Your knowledge and experience are valuable; therefore, it is part of your role to contribute to the development of our common working methods.

Within the care and welfare sector, we work flexibly between different units. This means that you will also do work shifts (resource shifts) at other residences than the one you normally work at.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a high school education and approved grades from the health and care program or the child and leisure program, or another equivalent education. It is a plus (but not a requirement) if you have knowledge of conversation methodology, such as motivational interviewing (MI), social stories, or drawing talk. Experience with delegated tasks, clarifying pedagogy, low-arousal responses, and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) is also meritorious.

It is desirable that you have experience working with welfare technology aids and a requirement for experience working with individuals with disabilities, especially autism.

As a person, you are calm and secure and have a respectful, good, and adapted approach. To succeed in this role, we see that you have good collaboration skills, are solution-focused, and can easily adapt to new conditions. To thrive in the role, we believe you have the ability to take responsibility in your professional role, are proactive, and are used to working independently.

In this role, it is important that you can communicate orally and in writing in Swedish, as you and the user need to understand each other, but also to carry out documentation. You have computer skills and preferably experience with social documentation.

A valid driver's license (B) is a requirement.
