Building and Environment Manager for Upplands-Bro

About the Role

As the Building and Environment Manager, you will have strategic, operational, and personnel responsibilities for the municipality's authority in building permits, environmental protection, food, and alcohol and tobacco. You will be part of the management team for the Environment and Urban Planning Department, which is one of three departments within the Community Building Office, and you are expected to actively contribute to the development of the entire office's work in a growing municipality. You will work closely with politicians, other offices, and external stakeholders, and be responsible for ensuring that operations are conducted legally, efficiently, and with a high level of service towards citizens and businesses.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the building permit and environmental unit
• Personnel, operational, and financial responsibility
• Ensure legal authority in accordance with PBL, the Environmental Code, and other relevant legislation
• Act as a presenter in committees and collaborate closely with political leadership
• Drive operational development and digitalization
• Contribute strategically to the department's management work
• Collaborate internally and externally on community building issues

We are looking for someone who has

• A university degree in a relevant field
• Experience from municipal operations or other public administration
• At least five years of experience as a manager with personnel responsibility
• Solid experience in the environmental or building permit area
• Good knowledge of relevant legislation (Environmental Code, Planning and Building Act, etc.)
• Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish

It is advantageous if you have:

• Experience from both environmental and building permit operations
• Previous work in close collaboration with politically governed organizations
