Unit Manager at the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority

As a unit manager at the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority, you will work with issues that are crucial for Sweden's digital development, competitiveness, and societal preparedness. You will lead and develop a unit responsible for qualified analysis, statistics, and data collection in the field of electronic communication. We are now looking for someone who wants to take overall responsibility for a strategically important operation with significant societal benefit. The position is a temporary role until the end of the year 2026.

We work with what everyone takes for granted: the ability to communicate. With us, you will ensure that it works now and in the future. For everyone.

The Market Analysis and Statistics Unit belongs to the Analysis Department and is responsible for qualified quantitative analysis, collection and coordination of statistics, as well as management of extensive databases. The unit provides strategic analytical support to the entire authority and plays a central role in PTS's work with market assessments, government assignments, and long-term development of the authority's data supply, including work with geodata. The work is carried out in close collaboration with both internal and external national and international actors.

The unit consists of about ten highly qualified analysts with backgrounds in economics, statistics, geography, and law. There is high competence, great commitment, and a shared focus on quality, collaboration, and responsibility. The work environment is characterized by trust and professionalism, and we cherish the good working atmosphere and mood that prevails.

I, your future manager, am Kristian Viidas, the head of the analysis department. I expect you to lead and develop your unit through a person- and situation-adapted leadership style and contribute to the analysis department thoughtfully prioritizing based on what is best for the authority as a whole. Together, we create a work environment where we thrive, develop, and deliver high quality – even when the pace is high and the questions are complex.

About the Role

As a unit manager, you are responsible for the unit's operations, personnel, and finances. A central part of the assignment is to create a safe, developing, and sustainable work environment where employees are given good conditions to succeed in their tasks. You clarify goals, assignments, and priorities, and plan, develop, and follow up on operations in a structured way.

The role entails overall responsibility for the collection and coordination of statistics from the electronic communication market, analysis of market developments, and implementation of government assignments in the area. You are also responsible for the authority's coordinated work with data collection and geodata, as well as the development of work tools related to this.

You represent the operations in many different contexts, both internally and externally, nationally and internationally. The role includes initiating and driving development work at both the unit and department levels. As a unit manager, you will be part of the department's management team and actively contribute to the development of the department's overall operations and to good cooperation across organizational boundaries.

About You

We are looking for a confident and experienced leader with a good ability to take responsibility for the whole. As a person, you are collaborative and unpretentious, which allows you to build trusting relationships and contribute to an open and inclusive work climate. In your work, you are structured and analytical, with a good ability to plan, prioritize, and follow up on operations against set goals.

You have a stable demeanor and can handle pressure and complex situations in a calm and constructive manner. You are results-oriented and ensure that both planned and unexpected tasks are carried out with high quality and within given time frames. Communication is clear and trustworthy, and you can represent the operations professionally towards various stakeholders. Your personal qualities are important to us, which is why we will place great emphasis on these.

We are looking for you who have:

  • A university degree in economics, statistics, or another degree relevant to the position.
  • Current experience of personnel responsibility
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

It is also meritorious if you have:

  • Documented experience of qualified analytical work
  • Experience in collecting statistics and coordinating data collection
  • Experience in working with geodata and work tools related to it
  • Experience from the electronic communication market
