Your new job

We offer you the opportunity to meet our wonderful students daily and teach them in character subjects within Industrial Technology, primarily in the Vocational Introduction Program but also in the individual choice Welding.

In the Vocational Introduction Program, we work with high school-aged students who need a lot of support from adults, both in school and in their life situations. In the Vocational Introduction Program, there are smaller teaching groups, and we work closely with the students in teams consisting of teachers and student health teams. We work with low-affect responses and have a holistic perspective.

In addition to teaching vocational subjects, the role includes securing APL/internship placements and following up on these through visits and contact with supervisors and students. For each student, we tailor an individual study plan to meet the student's specific needs for education and APL/internship.

You will be an important part of Bäckadalsgymnasiet's whole and collaborate with students, guardians, teachers, school management, and other school staff in the school's development work. Like other teachers at the school, you will work closely with the students through mentorship. Therefore, you should have good communication skills with students and guardians, as well as a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and their different conditions for doing so. It is expected of you as a teacher to be flexible and take responsibility for the students' entire school situation, even outside the classroom.

The position likely also includes responsibility for the school's workshop facilities and the purchases needed for teaching.

Your qualifications

We prefer that you are a qualified vocational teacher with good competence in welding, sheet metal technology, and machining. It is advantageous if you have knowledge in operational reliability and maintenance as well as process technology. Experience from the industry as well as from teaching at the high school level is also meritorious. If you are not yet a qualified vocational teacher, we would like you to be willing to obtain the qualification within a couple of years. Many good local contacts within the industry facilitate the work with securing internships/APL.

As a person, you are responsible, social, and have an easy time communicating verbally and in writing. You have an interest in being involved in developing the educational activities with a focus on teaching and students' learning. You have good pedagogical skills, are easy to collaborate with, and can create sustainable relationships with students. In the role of vocational teacher, you need to be meticulous and have the ability to take overall responsibility. Patience, creativity, and joy in work are good qualities to have when applying for this position. Your ability to engage and motivate students is highly valued, as is your flexibility and solution-oriented approach. Personal suitability is of great importance.

Good to know

A prerequisite for the position is basic IT competence and that you hold a B driver's license.
