Special Educator at SiS Youth Home Långanäs

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.

SiS Youth Home Långanäs receives non-compulsory school boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse.

Job Description

We at SiS Youth Home Långanäs are looking for a special educator for our school, Långanässkolan. If you are passionate about helping the most vulnerable youth in society, we can offer an exciting position with a high degree of variation and the opportunity to truly make a difference. We can offer a high teacher density, good educational resources, and pedagogical guidance.

SiS Långanäs primarily accepts non-compulsory school boys based on the description above. This means that our students can range from school-motivated high school students without any special needs to youth with significant gaps and a great need for support, often with an NPF and/or IF diagnosis.

At Långanässkolan, the special educator plays a key role in our ongoing efforts to develop our operations. Långanässkolan aims to collaborate with treatment units to prepare our youth for what awaits after placement, which involves a holistic perspective balancing adaptation and challenge. It also means adapting for knowledge development in a safe environment here and now - developing skills, abilities, and strategies for the future. It is a varied job where you will meet different professionals within care and treatment as well as other societal actors such as social services and other community-supporting authorities.

You will participate in our systematic quality work together with school management and other professionals. This may lead to both guidance and educational initiatives from you as a special educator. Furthermore, you are expected to carry out pedagogical assessments of varying scope depending on the purpose, which may be for special support but also as part of the investigative task that the institution has. You will complement a group of teachers who work closely in teams to build an operation that motivates students towards educational development. Together with mentors and study and career counselors, you will be responsible for conducting pedagogical handovers to receiving schools. Teaching may also occur.

As a special educator, you make a difference every day for students who need society's help the most!

Qualifications

  • You are a qualified special educator or special teacher
  • You have a B driver's license

Experience with NPF and IF (adapted primary and secondary school) is desirable. Experience in school development as well as mapping and investigative work is also meritorious. As a person, you enjoy collaborating with other professionals. You have a high degree of empathy and the ability to encourage, motivate, and set clear boundaries. You are passionate about helping youth in difficulties. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

At SiS, we value good employee relations. This means that you as an employee take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good cooperation. Read more about our employee relations.
