Your Mission

We at the adapted primary school are now looking for a special teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities.

The position involves you teaching a group of students who are studying towards subject orientation.

Based on the curriculum and the governing documents available at the adapted primary school, you as a teacher will plan, implement, and evaluate the activities. Communication work is an essential part of our operations. We work daily with sign language, digital tools, visual support, and clarifying pedagogy.

You will be pedagogically responsible for the development of the student group based on applicable governing documents, and your role also includes a mentoring assignment for the student group you are responsible for. The mentoring assignment includes collaboration with guardians, among other things through development talks. As a special teacher, you will also guide the educational assistants included in the work team. The work also includes contact and collaboration with external agencies such as habilitation.

Description of the Workplace

The adapted primary school is located in the industrial community of Ljusne at the mouth of the Ljusnan river. We are close to forests, rivers, and the sea. The school area also includes the primary school grades F-9 and Ljusne preschool. Here, the public library and school library share facilities. The two school buildings are from the 1950s and 1970s and have been renovated several times over the years to adapt to the operations.

The adapted primary school consists of nine student groups with a total of about 45 students, from grades 1-9. Two of the student groups study subjects, and seven groups study towards subject areas.

Your Competence

We are looking for someone who is an educated special teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities, alternatively a teacher with a focus on special pedagogy or has other education that we consider equivalent.

Experience of working in an adapted primary school and knowledge of students within the autism spectrum and intellectual disabilities is meritorious, as well as having good knowledge of AAC (alternative and augmentative communication). It is also seen as an advantage if you have good digital skills, including in the learning platform Unikum and in the working method Scen:se.

As a person, it is important that you are independent and have good collaboration skills. We would like you to be the one who initiates activities and takes initiative. You work well with others and communicate and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner. It is also significant to have the ability to easily establish contact and maintain relationships. You are clear in your communication, attentive, and easily adapt to different situations, ensuring that the message reaches the recipient.

Furthermore, it is important that you have a good understanding of your role and prioritize the best interests of the operations in your actions and decision-making. You are structured and prioritize your work effectively. It is also important that you understand the various aspects of the work and continuously maintain your specialist knowledge.
