Operational Unit

The mission of the Operational Unit is to actively support local police areas, police regions, and units in their core mission. We do this by developing and providing specialist capabilities that enhance operational effectiveness in addressing the region's problem picture. With specialist competence, high service, and good collaboration, the operational unit is an important part of the operational and crime-fighting work in Region West.

Operational Section

The Operational Section is a regional section within the regional operational unit and has the entire region as its area of work. The section is responsible for police dog operations and the police cavalry within Region West.

JOB DUTIES

The main task of the police cavalry is to patrol and work preventively against crime and to create safety. In addition to the core mission, we work within the mobile intervention concept, where we contribute with reinforcement efforts both at the regional and national level. As a group leader, you have operational, personnel, and work environment responsibility for twelve employees. Through your leadership, you create conditions for participation and community where collaboration is a significant and important part of daily work.

You understand that the cavalry is part of a larger whole, which means that you lead the work based on our planned interventions and operational direction. You have close cooperation with your group leader colleague as well as with internal collaboration partners such as local police areas, operational coordinators, and other police cavalry units in the country.

The Assignment as Group Leader for the Cavalry Group

As a group leader, you report to the section manager and are part of the section's management team, where you collectively are responsible for ensuring that assignments are carried out and for driving the authority's change and development work. You have particular responsibility for the group's operations within the cavalry and its results. As a group leader, you represent the entire Police Authority both internally and externally and work to strengthen trust in police operations.

Being a manager and leader within the Police Authority means creating safety and building trust by exercising sincere, courageous, and attentive leadership with confidence in others' competence and ability. As a manager, you drive development by inspiring and encouraging reflection and feedback in a way that is based on following the law and treating people equally. You create conditions and work for good relationships that contribute to us acting together based on what is best for citizens and the assignment as a whole.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • at least 6 months of continuous experience working as a manager or having a supervisory role
  • experience participating in change and development work
  • experience in the relevant area of operations, i.e., experience working with operational directions and/or local problem pictures
  • police degree according to the regulation (2014:1105) on training to become a police officer
  • driver's license B

We consider it an advantage if you also:

  • are a trained police cavalry officer or have knowledge/training experience related to horses that the employer deems relevant
  • have experience leading others towards set goals and results
  • have been part of a management forum
  • have management and leadership training for direct level
  • have experience participating in/driving collaboration with community actors outside the police organization/your own organization
  • have experience in special police tactics
