Our target group is young people who are in, or at risk of, abuse, crime, or other socially destructive behavior.

The youth coach works on behalf of the authorities, focusing on the individual's specific support needs. This may involve social training in everyday situations, motivational conversations, assistance in attending daily activities, and support in initiating/completing treatment contacts. As a youth coach, you support the young person towards a functioning everyday life and work individually, as well as together with the youth's family and network. An important part of the mission is to create good collaborations with other actors around the youth and family, such as social services, police, schools, and psychiatry. Since we base our work on the youth's individual support needs, it is a prerequisite that you, as a youth coach, can work mornings, evenings, and weekends when necessary.

Description of the Workplace

Join us in creating a successful Söderhamn! In the Children and Learning sector, we focus on children and young people up to 20 years old. Here, activities and competencies come together to have the greatest impact in giving all children the opportunity to be entrepreneurs in their own lives - so they can choose their own future. Educational activities, preventive and promotional activities, as well as social services are available within the sector. About 700 employees work here, meeting children and young people through, for example, preschool, primary school, adapted primary school, culture school, social services, and the youth activities at Verkstäderna. We want everyone to succeed!

The operation started in the summer of 2025, currently consists of three youth coaches, and is part of open care for children and young people.

Your Competence

You are an educated treatment pedagogue, social pedagogue, or have other education that the employer considers equivalent. You have previous experience working with young people and find it easy to connect with both the youth and their network. To succeed in this role, you need to have several years of experience in social work, preferably with a focus on treatment/support for young people.

To fit into this role, it is important that you have a genuine interest in working with young people as well as a well-developed ability to build and maintain good relationships. The work involves many contact points, which means that communicative skills, collaboration ability, and good interpersonal skills are in focus. To be successful in the mission, you should be confident in your professional role and have the ability to meet all kinds of people in need of support. Since the work as a youth coach is directed towards young people with norm-breaking behavior, it is advantageous if you have education and knowledge related to the target group. We expect you to have well-developed intercultural competence. In addition, you are expected to have a good ability to work independently as you will largely be working alone on your cases.

Other Qualifications

• Education in addiction/dependency, crime
• Signs of Safety
• Previous work in open care or social services for children and young people
• Functional family therapy or other systemic methods within the framework of family treatment

Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written, as documentation is an important part of the work.
