We are now looking for an experienced negotiator with an interest in environmental and climate policy and good knowledge of EU processes, institutions, and working methods. We offer an exciting position at the center of events.
As an environmental advisor, you will represent Sweden's interests in the environmental and climate policy area within the EU. It may also be relevant to work on other issues within the Ministry of Climate and Enterprise's area. The work involves negotiating, promoting, and safeguarding Swedish interests in the work of the EU Council of Ministers. Furthermore, you will work on influencing the EU Commission and the European Parliament. Strategic networking is part of everyday life. You will collaborate closely with the other advisors from the Ministry of Climate and Enterprise, covering for each other as needed. The work involves close cooperation with the ministry, other posted staff, and the representation's management.

Your Background
We are looking for someone with an academic degree or other education that we assess as equivalent, with a focus that we consider relevant for the position. You have several years of relevant experience from work in the Government Offices or another authority. You should have experience in EU work and/or international negotiations. Experience in working with environmental and climate issues, EU negotiations, and from work in EU institutions is an advantage. If you also have experience in independently leading operations or processes, that is also an advantage. Furthermore, you should have good knowledge of the EU's working methods and decision-making processes as well as a good understanding of climate and environmental issues. You should also have knowledge of the Government Offices and its working methods and an understanding of what it is like to work in a politically governed organization. We welcome knowledge of EU environmental and climate policy as well as knowledge in other subject areas that fall under the Ministry of Climate and Enterprise. You are fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Good knowledge of French or other EU languages is an advantage.

Other Information
The position of environmental advisor is a fixed-term appointment for three years with the possibility of extension. Stationing in Brussels. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.
The position is a posting from Sweden to Brussels with terms according to the Agreement on Foreign Service (UVA). A person stationed abroad by a Swedish authority is considered resident in Sweden and is covered by Swedish social insurance. An employee stationed abroad must therefore be social insured and registered in Sweden.
The position is classified in a security class, and a security review with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen but may have a foreign background.
