Project Controller – Civil Engineering and Construction Projects

Large-scale subway project in Stockholm

Stockholm is undertaking one of the largest infrastructure investments in modern times. Several new subway lines, stations, and depots are being built as part of national and regional agreements. The expansion includes new routes to southern, western, and northern suburbs, as well as a completely new line between Fridhemsplan and Älvsjö.

We are now looking for an experienced project controller for the subproject Tunnels and Stations, focusing on civil engineering and construction projects for Fridhemsplan station and the Liljeholmen access tunnel.

About the project

The expansion between Fridhemsplan and Älvsjö includes:

Tunnel driving using TBM technology and segment-built, watertight concrete lining

Station production via vertical shafts from the ground surface

Work tunnels that will partially become permanent access tunnels

Geotechnical constructions, including secant pile solutions

The environmental application has been submitted, and the railway plan is scheduled for approval in 2026. The first civil engineering and construction projects are planned to start in the fall of 2026.

The contracts will be carried out in various compensation forms, including fixed price with adjustable quantities, time and material, and separate total contracts for certain constructions.

About the assignment

As a project controller, you will be responsible for project economics within civil engineering and construction projects for stations and work tunnels, on the client side.

You will be part of the implementation organization and work closely with project managers, construction managers, design managers, and technical specialists. A central part of the assignment is to establish structures, processes, and governance ahead of the implementation phase.

Main responsibilities

Establish and develop internal working methods for financial monitoring, calculations, procurement, and forecasting

Lead and coordinate work with budget, forecasts, timelines, and risks

Prepare quarterly reports (economy, time, risk, staffing)

Be responsible for contract economics and change order management

Review supplier invoices, diaries, and financial documentation

Coordinate production calculations together with construction management

Review the contractor's project plans regarding economy, risk, and time

Identify deviations and propose corrective actions

Prepare decision-making materials for project management

Drive improvement work within financial and reporting processes

Participate in construction and financial meetings

Contribute to professional and constructive relationships with contractors and external stakeholders

We are looking for someone who has

Several years of experience in project economics in larger construction or infrastructure projects

Documented experience from civil engineering and/or construction projects

Good knowledge of contract law and compensation forms (AB/ABT, fixed price, time and material)

Experience in contract monitoring and change order management

Ability to work systematically with forecasts, risk management, and financial control

Ability to work independently in complex project environments

Nature of the assignment

This is a qualified key assignment in a critical infrastructure project. The role requires analytical sharpness, high integrity, and the ability to combine strategic financial management with operational follow-up in production.
