As a business expert, you have an important role and handle interesting issues, both nationally and internationally. You support the entire Swedish Customs Authority in your area of expertise.

The Revenue Department is responsible for permits, post-controls, and revenue monitoring, and is one of the four operational departments of the Swedish Customs Authority. The department is divided into four units: South, West, East, and North.

About the position

We are looking for a business expert in the area of permits. You will primarily work with Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) and the upcoming introduction of Trusted Trader.

The role of the business expert means that you support the authority in questions related to your area of expertise and work internationally for the harmonization of legal application and policy development in the area.

As a business expert, you participate in international meetings and advocate Swedish interests in the forums you attend. You provide support to the organization regarding the interpretation of legislation and respond continuously to inquiries. You take the initiative to develop and design materials for governing and supporting documents. You conduct analyses within your area of expertise and contribute your skills to various projects and development work. You are expected to actively participate in change and improvement work. Contributing to policy and legal development is another important task.

The position also involves communicating internally and externally within your area of expertise, and you are engaged in training efforts. The position includes work with the Swedish Customs Authority's intranet, website, and various types of written guidance. Monitoring the external environment and collaborating with other authorities and organizations is also part of the role, as well as being involved in work with referrals and opinions.

The position entails significant personal responsibility; you must have the ability to take initiative and drive the work forward. You are expected to be willing to assist other business experts within the Swedish Customs Authority when needed and be helpful in other areas of expertise. You actively share your knowledge.

In the role of business expert, it is important that you are professional and collaborative. You also need to have a holistic view within your area of expertise and be able to represent Sweden and the Swedish Customs Authority internationally.

You will organizationally belong to the Revenue Unit West, but you can be placed in any of the Swedish Customs Authority's offices in Gothenburg, Malmö, Norrköping, Stockholm, or Sundsvall.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A university degree and 3 years of relevant work experience within the Swedish Customs Authority (or other work experience that we assess as equivalent) or alternatively, 5 years of relevant work experience within the Swedish Customs Authority (or other work experience that we assess as equivalent)
  • Experience in investigative work and interpretation of legislation
  • Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Good knowledge of the Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience in compiling, analyzing, and presenting information
  • Experience in developing work methods in an organization

It is an advantage if you have:

  • In-depth knowledge of permits under customs legislation
  • In-depth knowledge of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO)
  • Experience in policy and norm-setting work
  • Experience in international work
  • Experience in referral and legislative work
  • Completed the Swedish Customs Authority's basic training
  • IT skills

Personal qualities

As a person, you are both results-oriented and thoughtful, with an aptitude for problem-solving and analytical thinking. You work independently, take your own initiatives for continuous improvements, and are a knowledge resource for others. You are a good communicator with pedagogical skills in both speech and writing.

You are interested in global issues and how they affect our operations. It is important that you are comfortable in an expert role that may involve developing clear proposals with recommendations for the Swedish Customs Authority's stance on an issue.

Since the work requires many contacts and dialogue with colleagues and other parts of the organization, we want you to be a good listener, responsive, and able to collaborate easily with your surroundings. The work as a business expert involves periods of high workload, and you need to have the ability to prioritize and focus on the right things.

You are accustomed to handling large amounts of text and can quickly identify the essence of the text. You are also good at working according to set deadlines.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

The employment is a permanent position and begins with a 6-month probationary period, and individual salary setting applies.

Start date: By agreement.

Business trips within and outside Sweden are included in the position.

A security clearance with a background check according to the Security Protection Act will be conducted before employment, as the position is classified. The Swedish Customs Authority is a total defense authority, and upon employment, you may be assigned to the Swedish Customs Authority in a crisis.
