Job Responsibilities
At Backa Kyrkogata, we work to provide individually tailored support and services to adults.
Our tenants, aged between 20 and 70, live in their own apartments and represent a diverse group with varying needs.
As a support assistant, you play a central role in promoting tenant participation and creating conditions for them to influence their services and daily lives. You provide support in daily life – from communication and social interaction to leisure activities and practical household tasks. The role also includes some personal care, such as assistance with personal hygiene, meals, and other basic needs, which may involve heavy lifting. By adapting your working methods, you contribute to ensuring that each individual has the opportunity to live an independent and meaningful life.
You work closely with individuals in the tenants' networks, such as guardians, social workers, relatives, and healthcare professionals. The position also includes social documentation and medication management according to current delegation.
By establishing and following implementation plans, you ensure that the tenants are the focus. You contribute to creating a safe home where each person has access to participation, self-determination, and quality of life.
All social documentation is done in the documentation system Treserva. If you have not previously used the systems used within the City of Gothenburg, you will receive training in these.
Housing with special services offers support around the clock. We start from the tenants' needs and need to adapt working hours accordingly. Working hours are scheduled for daytime and evening as well as weekends. We use Time Care Planning for operationally adapted and flexible schedules.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree from the Health and Care program, support assistant training, or the Child and Leisure program with a focus on social or pedagogical work. The educational requirement is also met if you have a post-secondary specialization in the disability field that includes at least 200 YH points, 120 higher education credits, or a combination that corresponds to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 higher education credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for people with disabilities. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
Communication is an important part of the job, which requires that you have passed Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1. If you do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1, you may be offered to take a language test through the test user Educateit.
It is required that you have previously worked as a support assistant and that you have extensive experience working with various types of disabilities and that you have experience with AAC (alternative and augmentative communication).
It is an advantage if you have experience or knowledge of LAB (low-arousal approach) and clear pedagogical methods.
You take responsibility for both your own and the group's tasks and always work with the individual's best interests in focus. You strive to carry out tasks carefully and follow up on results to ensure good quality.
In your interactions with others, you are friendly, accommodating, and respectful – even when the pace is high. You meet everyone in a positive and professional manner and work to ensure that the tenant receives the support and service they need.
You are stable and secure in challenging situations, can handle demands and time pressure, and make well-founded decisions even when circumstances are challenging.
Other
Selection and interviews will begin during the application period.
In this recruitment, you will be asked to answer several questions where you describe your knowledge in the area instead of sending a personal letter.
