Näldenskola is a K-6 school with about 180 students. There are good bus and train connections to and from Östersund. In the completely newly built school that was completed before the 2025/26 school year, we work in close collaboration to create holistic solutions for the students. The work is based on the student's opportunity for development and learning throughout the day. Nälden's after school care has a lead teacher who leads the collegial development work together with the school's lead teacher. The proximity to nature makes it a natural place for learning and development, and we look forward to a newly built schoolyard being ready before the autumn term of 2026.

The Department of Education and Childcare has about 800 employees. The department's activities extend across the entire municipality and include preschool, primary school K-9, adapted primary school, after school care, food and cleaning services, mother tongue, and library services.

A Day as a Teacher in After School Care at Näldenskola

As a teacher in after school care, you work closely with colleagues and teachers, in a context with great opportunities to plan and lead activities based on the governing documents and your expertise.

Learning can occur in many ways, and all students are different and have different needs. You will constantly receive immediate feedback on your efforts in the form of curious questions, raised eyebrows, laughter, and discussions that arise.

Teaching and stimulating students based on municipal and national goals is the main task of the job. Inspiring, motivating, and sparking curiosity in students to seek the knowledge they need themselves is another important part of the work, as is supporting students in their personal development so that they can function socially in society.

Other important tasks in the teaching profession include recognizing development needs and driving the development of the activities towards set goals, as well as contributing to the school's development. There are great opportunities for you to use your knowledge and experience to further develop the working methods of the activities together with your colleagues.

You are well acquainted with the school's governing documents and can apply them in your daily work.

Your Qualifications

For the position of Teacher in After School Care, you must be: A certified teacher in after school care.

We would also like you to have the following competencies or experiences:

• Qualification in a practical/aesthetic subject, e.g., music.
• Experience in leading and planning teaching in after school care and working with low-affect responses.
• You have good collaboration skills and an inclusive working method.
• You are flexible and see the school's work team as a resource that works together.
• You have the empathetic ability to understand students' needs and meet them where they are, as well as to listen, encourage, stimulate, and challenge them to develop further.
