Hovs School is a F-6 school in Alsen, located between Östersund and Åre. Here, you have access to beautiful nature with great opportunities for various activities. There is also a swimming pool adjacent to the facility. You will work closely with teachers and colleagues. We collaborate closely to create holistic solutions for the students. The work is based on the student's potential for development and learning throughout the day. There is a good collaboration with Näldens Fritidshem, where there is a lead teacher conducting a joint development effort for both after-school programs.

The Department of Education and Child Services has about 800 employees. The department's activities extend across the entire municipality and include preschool, primary school F-9, adapted primary school, after-school programs, nutrition and cleaning services, mother tongue education, and library services.

A Day as a Teacher in After-School Care at Hovs School

As a teacher in after-school care, you will work closely with colleagues and teachers, in an environment with great opportunities to plan and lead activities based on the governing documents and your own expertise. Here, you have good conditions to utilize the local area and its nature for various activities. An active development effort is conducted together with the teachers based on the goals of the program.

Learning can occur in many ways, and all students are different and have different needs. You will receive immediate feedback on your efforts in the form of curious questions, raised eyebrows, laughter, and discussions that arise.

Teaching and stimulating students based on municipal and national goals is the main task of the job. Inspiring, motivating, and arousing curiosity in students to seek the knowledge they need is another important part of the work, as well as supporting students in their personal development so that they can function socially in society.

Other important tasks in the teaching profession include recognizing developmental needs and driving the development of the program towards established goals, as well as contributing to the school's development. There are great opportunities for you to use your knowledge and experience to further develop the program's working methods together with your colleagues.

Your Competence

For the position of Teacher in After-School Care, you must be:

• A licensed teacher in after-school care

We would also like you to have the following competencies or experiences:

• Qualifications in a practical/aesthetic subject, e.g., home economics.
• Experience in leading and planning teaching in after-school care.
• You have good collaboration skills and an inclusive working approach.
• You are flexible and see the school's team as a resource that works together.
• You have the empathetic ability to understand students' needs and meet them where they are, as well as to listen, encourage, stimulate, and challenge them to develop further.
