Kriminalvården is looking for a legal advisor with a focus on data protection

Kriminalvården is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transport.

The Legal Department currently consists of three units – the Client Law Unit, the Authority Law Unit, and the Planning and Coordination Unit. The Authority Law Unit is responsible for areas of operational law and information management.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a legal advisor with a focus on data protection, you will provide legal advice to the authority's management and other parts of the organization primarily on issues related to personal data processing. You will continuously work to provide legal support in change and development processes and also contribute to the legal governance within the authority.

Your responsibilities include developing, revising, and monitoring internal governing documents in the area of data protection. You will provide legal support in this area to other departments at the Kriminalvården headquarters and participate in projects where legal expertise in data protection is requested. In your work, you, along with your colleagues, will monitor developments in the area of data protection and analyze how regulatory changes and new practices in the field affect Kriminalvården's operations.

You will prepare and present the authority's referral statements and develop proposals for statements to, among others, the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection. Your work may also include drafting requests for legislative changes to the government.

The role of legal advisor with a focus on data protection is independent and varied. The work involves ongoing contacts with, among others, the Government Offices, other authorities, and other parts of the Kriminalvården organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are a person who works well with others by being attentive and communicative. You are meticulous and well aware of goals and quality standards, able to make correct assessments and priorities. You understand complex linguistic materials in both speech and writing and can produce your own documents of high quality. You have well-founded and clear values and the ability to think conceptually about issues from an ethical perspective. Furthermore, you take responsibility for your tasks and drive your processes forward.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Law degree
• Notary qualification or other experience that Kriminalvården assesses as relevant
• Very good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish

It is advantageous if you have:

• Training in the area of data protection
• Training in public access and confidentiality
• Judicial training
• Experience of qualified investigative work with data protection issues
• Experience of qualified legal work with data protection issues in the Government Offices
• Experience of working as a legal advisor with data protection issues at another government agency
• Experience of working as a data protection officer
• Experience of working with issues of public access and confidentiality
• Experience of working with IT legal issues

OTHER

We have high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. To work with us, you need to undergo a security clearance in accordance with the Security Protection Act. The position is classified in a security class, and a security clearance including a security interview with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. During the security clearance, you will be investigated as a person, your background, and your relationships from a security perspective.
