The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transportation.
The Learning Center is a national organization where the Adult Education section provides education for the clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. At each prison in the country and some detention centers, there is one or more learning centers where teachers teach at basic and upper secondary levels, equivalent to municipal adult education, as well as Swedish language education for immigrants. The adult education is nationally coordinated and organized so that studies work regardless of which facility a client comes to and even if they are transferred during their studies. As a career and guidance counselor, you will be based at the regional office in Linköping.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be part of a group of career and guidance counselors. The counselors are geographically spread across the country and have the principal as their immediate supervisor. All work is carried out in close collaboration between counselors, principals, and other employees within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's Adult Education. Career and guidance counseling is a resource for all detainees in detention and prison. The work includes tasks such as motivational conversations, support for individual study planning, and eligibility issues. Guidance with detainees is conducted via telephone.
The work involves planning and implementation based on national governing documents, the organization's goals, proven experience, and scientific foundation. All work is conducted from the premises of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
QUALIFICATIONS
In your role as a career and guidance counselor, you have the desire and ability to motivate, inspire, and lead students to achieve their goals. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a good ability to create structure and systematics. The work is conducted both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, which is why good collaboration and initiative skills are important qualities, as well as the ability to work independently.
It is important to us that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the individual's will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Degree in Career and Guidance Counseling

- Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems
It is an advantage if you have:
