JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Welcome to Hagavik School - Växjö Municipality's newest secondary school with new, fresh facilities. We opened our doors in August 2024, and this school year we have 12 classes, but for the next school year, we will expand with an additional 3 classes. This means we will have about 400 students. We work to provide students with good learning environments with the student's best interests in focus. We help each other find solutions that benefit the students and help them develop, both socially and academically.

We are looking for a driven special educator in mathematics or reading and writing who wants to be part of the school's continued journey. We want students to leave Hagavik School with a strong belief in themselves and to be independent for the life that awaits. Through knowledge and creativity, you inspire a joyful learning experience, take responsibility, and have a desire to develop.

You will belong to a team with special educators, special teachers, teachers in special education groups, student coordinators, and more. Your work with students (both individually and in groups) involves planning, implementation, and follow-up of teaching in close collaboration with the teaching teachers. You contribute your knowledge and solution-focused approach regarding physical, social, and pedagogical environments. The work may also involve mentoring colleagues, writing assessments for students in need of special support, and establishing and evaluating action plans.

The school's student health team, consisting of the principal, special teachers, school nurse, counselor, study and career advisor, and student coordinators, meets every week. We work to create safe and trusting relationships with a good study environment so that all our students can develop as far as possible based on the goals of education. The school also has an attendance and safety team where staff from the youth center are involved. We see that high attendance positively affects students' results.

We value good communication between school and home. From the school, we want to offer all guardians a good insight into and a good collaboration regarding the students' school situation. For us, it is important that parents feel that their children's education is significant for the future, which is a success factor for them to succeed in school.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a special education degree focused on mathematics or reading and writing and has experience meeting students with various needs for special support. You should have the ability to work in a team, have a structured approach, and be able to take initiative and work independently. We place great importance on personal qualities and value the ability to meet students based on their varying needs.

You have experience working as a special teacher at the secondary level and have a teaching degree as a foundation.

We believe you can easily communicate in both spoken and written language and are comfortable making new contacts and building relationships. You have good collaboration skills, a positive willingness to develop the operation, can see opportunities, and work independently while taking initiative. You are solution-focused and find different ways to reach the student. You are accustomed to using assistive technology to facilitate learning for the student. You are innovative and find teaching methods that suit each student's learning style, which also develops the students, the operation, and yourself.

Warm welcome to your application!
