About the Position

Welcome to us at the Investigation of Children and Youth!

As a social worker with us, you will meet children, youth, and their families. Your main task is to investigate the child's situation, make assessments according to the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU), as well as the law on children in protected housing.

The unit is currently divided into two units, each with its own manager. Investigation of Children and Youth 1 primarily works with younger children and families, while Investigation of Children and Youth 2 primarily works with teenagers and their families. We always have a cohesive handling when there are several children of different ages in the same family.

The work also involves writing statements to various authorities and collaborating with external partners and other social services. The work is based on current legislation, making decisions or proposing decisions, which requires you to have a preliminary understanding of legal texts and processes as well as the ability to analyze before making an assessment.

You will work according to BBIC and document in the operational system Lifecare. Furthermore, you will contribute to utilizing the family's own resources and solutions. We work a lot with mapping the network and prefer to use the family's own resources, and we also create individual solutions at home. We are currently in the process of implementing Signs of Safety.

Examples of Tasks:

  • investigate and handle cases according to SoL, LVU, and the Law on Placement in Protected Housing
  • have contacts both for investigation purposes and to help strengthen individuals' own resources
  • write statements to various authorities
  • collaborate with external partners, such as schools, preschools, healthcare, and police
  • make decisions by delegation
  • collaborate with other social services
  • follow up on interventions

About the Workplace

The Social Board responsible for individual and family care belongs to the Social Administration in Örebro Municipality. Individual and family care is based on several areas with both authority exercise and interventions. The social services in Örebro Municipality have extensive open care, significant preventive work, several HVB homes, and support accommodations. Within the authority exercise, there are several units, Foster Homes, Family Law, Reception, Social Emergency, and several investigation units for Children and Youth as well as Young Adults.

Our unit Investigation of Children and Youth works with authority exercise and consists of eight workgroups each with its own group leader, four administrators, and two unit managers. The unit is built on community, legal certainty, a desire to develop and innovate. We work with the mindset that we help each other, support one another, and that the child's best interest should always be the focus.

We have our office on Ribbingsgatan located centrally in the north where it is close to both bus, train, shops, and food options. There is also the possibility to work from home to some extent.

Qualifications

The role of social worker with us is challenging, stimulating, but also complex. Therefore, we need someone who is secure and stable. Furthermore, you are flexible and can easily adapt to changing circumstances. The work also requires you to switch between different tasks and have the ability to find quick, legally secure solutions.

You can remain calm in stressful and pressured situations. You prefer to work in a team with shared responsibility while also taking great responsibility for independently driving the work forward. Furthermore, you have the ability to organize and prioritize work effectively. You are attentive in your contact with others and have a natural ability to understand others' perspectives and situations without losing your professional integrity. The work requires good communication skills, which means that you can express yourself clearly and structured in both speech and writing. Of course, you are also engaged and want to actively participate in developing the work for the benefit of those we are here for.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

  • degree in social work, 210 credits
  • driving license B

Meritorious:

  • documented experience from work with authority exercise within social services, handling and investigation of cases
  • experience of working with Children’s Needs in Focus (BBIC)
  • experience of working based on Signs of Safety
  • training in assessment instruments (e.g., SAVRY and/or EARL)
  • experience with the operational system Lifecare
