JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a substitute youth coach who wants to create a meaningful, safe, and inclusive leisure time for children and young people. We work closely with the middle school’s student café. In the afternoons, we are present at the student café, and in the evenings, we run an open meeting place in the form of a youth center. Together with the youth and colleagues, you will help shape activities, conversations, and meetings that make a difference.

Responsibilities:

• meet youth and create a safe and welcoming environment
• plan and implement activities based on young people's interests and needs
• support and encourage youth's own ideas and initiatives
• collaborate with schools, colleagues, and other internal/external actors
• reach more children and young people through activities in more places in the municipality

Askersund Municipality has a youth center, Hörnan, in Sjöängen in Askersund. The youth center currently targets young people aged 13-19. Additionally, there are association-driven meeting places/leisure centers in the municipality that you will collaborate with.

The work takes place both during the day and in the evening. Work may also occur on weekends with good notice. Saturday openings have been tried over the years and are relevant again.

QUALIFICATIONS

We expect you to have:

• A genuine interest in children and young people.
• Recreation leader education or other relevant post-secondary education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
• Good ability to collaborate and build relationships, as well as a willingness to continue developing youth leisure activities and reach more children and young people.
• Good knowledge of Swedish.
• Driver's license.

Abilities and skills that we value highly:

You have good collaboration skills, but to succeed in your role, you also have the ability to work independently, structured, and strategically. You are creative, quality-conscious, and proactive. You are prepared to put in effort and take new initiatives when needed, while planned work is ongoing.

We would like you to have experience working with children and young people within municipal leisure activities.

It is an advantage if you have training in a coaching approach. If you have interests in leisure, sports, culture, or art forms, that can also be an advantage.

There is an opportunity to sign a contract for annual working hours.

Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.
