RESPONSIBILITIES

Östra Lugnet and Hagavik adapted primary school, consisting of students in grades 4-9, shares facilities with two primary schools, Östra Lugnet School and Hagavik School. At Östra Lugnet School, we have 4 mixed-age classes, grades 4-6, and at Hagavik School, we have 6 mixed-age classes, grades 7-9. There will be approximately 70 students at the start of the school year in Autumn 2026.

The teaching is based on the adapted primary school's curriculum. In the classes, teachers and teaching assistants work closely together. Our aim is for all students to encounter a learning environment tailored to their abilities. Taking individual circumstances into account, we create a strong sense of community within the group. Together, we foster security, well-being, and knowledge development. Our goal is for students to develop a strong belief in their own abilities and to instill a lifelong desire for learning and development. We work in smaller classes with good access to staff so that all students are well supported in their learning and social development. We are committed to being clear and structured so that all students feel a sense of coherence and can meet the expectations placed upon them. We want our students to be active participants in their own learning, and therefore their thoughts and contributions are an important part of our planning process.

We are now looking for a teacher in wood and metal crafts, permanent position, starting in the autumn term of 2026. The position is 100% and you will collaborate with another teacher in textile crafts.

You will be responsible for planning and conducting teaching according to the adapted primary school's curriculum and the common structures and pedagogical methods that are established.

You will be part of a team with other practical-aesthetic teachers, including additional craft teachers. Support in your work will also come from our resource team consisting of a special educator and a special teacher for language, writing, and reading development.

As a teacher in an adapted primary school, you will meet students in smaller groups, usually four to eight students, and we strive to have practical-aesthetic subjects in half classes whenever possible. You will have the opportunity to establish good relationships with the students and see each individual based on their circumstances. In the classes, teachers and teaching assistants work closely together on the students' social and academic development. The teaching assistants follow the students throughout their school day, including during practical-aesthetic lessons.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are primarily looking for someone who is a licensed special educator with a specialization in intellectual disabilities. We also welcome applications from those who lack special educator qualifications but have a teaching license and are qualified to teach wood and metal crafts. We would prefer you to have prior teaching experience.

In addition to your teaching license, you should:

• be able to see and meet each student based on their circumstances

• take responsibility for and establish trusting relationships with our students
• have experience working with students at different functional levels
• be interested in working with other staff to be responsible for and develop the educational activities at Östra Lugnet and Hagavik adapted primary school.
