Swedish Prison and Probation Service is Growing – We Are Hiring
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transportation.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Correctional Officer within the Transport Department (TA), you will be part of a team consisting of two to four people, each responsible for different roles in the execution of client transports.
The roles distributed in the workgroup are driver, transport officer, and transport leader.
You will encounter a wide variety of clients of different ages, backgrounds, and experiences. You will search, restrain with handcuffs, and supervise the client during transport.
The assignments in TA are varied, meaning that your working hours may change from day to day. Evening, night, and weekend work may be included.
The scheduled times are frame times, usually from 07:00 to 17:00. Frame time means that the employer can change your start time based on assignments, and the end time can be pushed forward until the assignment is completed.
Changes in start time will be communicated before the previous shift ends. For example, a shift may be between 07:00-19:00 (12 hours) or 09:00-16:00 (7 hours).
We place great importance on the fact that there is no fixed time for each shift, and this is something to consider if you are still interested; you must be able to be flexible.
QUALIFICATIONS
The role places high demands on personal suitability. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good collaboration skills and be clear in your communication. It is important that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and belief in the potential for human development and change. You need to have good physical fitness to handle a sedentary job and to act physically when required.
We are looking for someone who has:
Requirements:
- Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
- Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience deemed relevant by the correctional service.
- Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
- Good computer skills.
- Category B driver's license and good driving experience.
It is advantageous if you have:
- Work experience in corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social work.
- Knowledge in relevant areas, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
- Relevant language skills.
